What are the 3 or 4 button rotation that people say DH's have? I see like a whole bunch of different offensive and defensive 'buttons'

As my subject line says, I just want to know exactly what the 3 or 4 button rotation that everyone speaks of when referring to Demon Hunters. Is it 3 buttons for Havoc and then 4 buttons for Vengeance? What gives? Please tell me what everyone uses for their 3 and 4 button rotations!

I have like 32 keybinds
But my dps rotation comes to about 4 - 6

You don’t count offensive , defensive and utility Cds as part of the rotation . You generally save offensive ones during burn phases.

Its pretty much the same with every other class.

From what i understand, core rotations for ret paladins and frost mages are low on the count. And i think fury warrior is at 4, maybe 5 buttons

With my build it is pretty much chaos strike (or annihilation in burst, same thing), blade dance, felblade (I believe, the furry generating talent), and eyebeam. There is metamorphisis for burst. The rest is generally mobility/defensive cooldowns/utility which are not rotational. If you really wanted a weird build, you could talent into three buttons by taking something besides felblade or 5+ buttons if you don’t take demon blades and take a few other things. It is talent based, but my build is about four buttons rotationally.

Edit: This is havoc. I don’t know much about the tank spec.

A momentum build adds a couple extra buttons to the rotation. The effort / reward ratio for it just isn’t big enough although that might change with higher ilvls? (I’m hypothesizing)

Havoc’s rotation ranges from 4 to 5 buttons, and literally none of them take any sort of thought. No spec is hard these days, but Havoc takes “braindead” to a whole new level. A lot of dps specs have 4-5 button rotations, but Havoc is the only one that does not require brainplay in any capacity. That’s the issue.

I’m aware Momentum exists to add a degree of complexity. I hate the talent. The idea of having to use my mobility for a damage window, and thus potentially not having mobility when I suddenly need it, is a massive turn-off. Plus it feels terrible when soloing mobs in the open world.

Mash blade, judge, crusader till 5 holy power. 1 mob hit templar verdict, more hit divine storm.

Repeat.

Key rotation is 4 button.

Eye beam, chaos strike, demons bite and blade dance.

Actual skill rotation is very different based on your gear and equipment.

I will immo aura, coral, rush, apply eternal flame burn, eye beam, bite, blade dance, bite, bite, meta, eye beam etc.

Playstyle changes depending on your gear, what content you are doing, etc. You will use more than 4 buttons for sure.

felblade

kek.

Yeah DH is quite braindead I dont think theres any situational use of abilities like their is with other specs/classes. Its just do ur dps rotation the same 100% of the time. I will admit in terms of m plus its idiotic that blade dance is a good single target ability but also does a ton of cleave. Ww monks suffer the same fate.

Pretty much this. It’s not rocket science, but it’s fluid, supremely mobile, and puts you in complete control of your kit and how to use it. If some want to call it brain-dead that’s their prerogative, but I enjoy playing it - and that’s something I can’t often say these days about my mains.
