What are some very MECHANICALLY difficult dungeons?

Long story short I’ve taken a personal challenge as a level 36 Paladin with some pretty good twink gear to solo most of the dungeons in retail wow.

So far I’ve only gone through Stockades, Deadmines and some of Shadowfang Keep and I can solo most trash and bosses with a difficult challenge I enjoy. However I’m looking for dungeons with some actual difficult mechanics attached to them as in if the mechanics of the boss are not done properly it guarantees or near guarantees death.

They are called raids. Your welcome.

Probably the BfA dungeons. Anything Legion and beyond was built with mythic+ in mind which has bosses that have actual mechanics even on normal and above.

The vanilla dungeons are all little more than actual tank and spanks where even if there was a mechanic, it didn’t matter.

Would Oculus count? Nothing like taking all your character’s carefully worked out abilities and talents and throwing them in the trashcan while you control a dragon with two buttons (and a third one on the boss, ooooo!)

King’s Rest immediately came to mind. Not because of every boss in there, but I remember some of em really tripping folks up back in BfA.

I’d honestly say of all the dungeons I can think about right off the top of my head, Dawn of the Infinite has been a real step up in difficulty. Being the orb soaker on Deios really makes me feel like I’m holding the lives of my party in my hand.

Vortex Pinnacle maybe? And Blackrock Caverns.

He’s talking about leveling/normal dungeons. He can’t access DOTI.

Thinking about it a bit more, I’d have to definitely say BfA dungeons are the best pick here though I admit I do not know how neutered they are on normal, but thinking of the dungeons in the pool, even their core mechanic (assuming it stayed) means the OP has to do something more than just faceroll a health sponge until it dies. I think even Atal Dazar may not even be doable solo unless you outgear it since I’m not sure how you’d deal with puke boy’s 3 totems in time or handle the insane damage the spider’s adds reaching her cause.

Except I don’t have a guild to raid heroics with and I’m not doing Lfr

Retail reg dungeons don’t have much mechanics let alone ones that will kill you for not performing. Mechanics get added in higher difficulty

I would think the hardest mechanics emerge from the Ruby Life Pools

Most of the cata dungeons have important mechanics, though they may have neutered them to the point of irrelevance.

This automatically means nothing with a queue.

Siege of boralus was my first thought as well.

No dungeons are hard and also why don’t people use the adventure guide?

My group could not do Altarius this week (Tyrannical) in Vortex at our key level. The tangled affix was just too much. We dropped the key twice and still could not do it. So we went and did Halls and it went okay. When you can do Halls and not Vortex, there’s something wrong with the design.

Next season there are some bosses in Atal Dazar and Waycrest Manor that are going to be pug killers for a while. The boss in AD where you have to kill the three totems at the same time will brick a lot of keys early in the season.

Most of the classic revamp dungeons are very simple. Just tank n spank mechanics. The further down the rabbit hole you get with WoW expansions you’ll find more challenging encounters.

Based on how often I get kicked from De Other Side… I’d say that one…

There is a world of difference when you are attempting to solo the dungeon while leveling (meaning you don’t overlevel or outgear the content like you do at max level). As a lone body, dungeons like Atal are no doubt mechanically very hard to solo both from trash and a boss perspective. Dungeons in later expansions are just straight up mechanically more complex and punishing because they were built from the ground up to be an endgame pillar.

Underrot is a good example. How is a lone person going to handle chasing down all the crap from the 2nd boss or dealing with adds that quickly ramp up a massive bleed? How is that single person going to handle smashing all the mushrooms on the 3rd boss? How is a lone person going to handle the last boss and doing enough damage to trigger the adds that spawn that actually kill him?

Compare that to any vanilla dungeon and just try and find bosses that have mechanics that can challenge a player to that degree.

Well go find a dungeon and find out.
