What are some good pets?

I looking for some cool pets i currently only have a core hound and void stalker I can carry 3 more what are some suggestions

Depends upon spec and level.

I only play BM, so I usually have a Spirit Beast, Core Hound and Clefthoof. I would recommend the Hunter Pet’s Bible, Petopia. This is the complete list of all pets and abilities.

SUPER situational, but in general, I think you’ll want at least one of each of these guys:

  • Spirit Beast (good for dungeons and raids, also probably the best tanks)
  • Cat (good for D on BG bases because they can stealth, also lust)
  • Raptor/Hyena/other Cunning Mortal Wounds pet (good for PvP yo)
  • Bird of Prey or other Cunning pet with slowing ability (because also PvP)
  • Chimaera (because how else are you going to beat that optional sludge boss in AQ?)
  • Water Strider (purely functional, I don’t have one as a mount so I use it to get over water)
  • Quilen (my fav tank pet, is Tenacity + Armor ability)
  • Moth or other Cunning pet with a dispel (more PvP)
  • Turtle or other Tenacity with armor ability (good tank pet for those non-BM types)

I think that’s all of them that I think are necessary.

I like the look of the Wild Dreamrunners found in Legion zones.

Main ones off the top of my head that I looked at using

Clefthoof for solo PvE.
Any pet with mortal strike for PvP
Then a spirit beast for heals / displell
A bloodlust pet for party pve (that does not already have it)

Oh…definitely need a crab pet, you can give him a/the big knife/shank (toy) :stuck_out_tongue:

I like to run with a devilsaur. They’re fun, loud and beneficial for those moments I’m feeling froggy and turn on Warmode.

Spiders are also fun… The amount of WoW players with arachnophobia is great!

You can “carry” 5 pets but you can have 50(?) more in your stable (not sure of the #). It’s a good idea to get extra pets that you can use in other specs. You never know when you went to try MM or Survival.

To change what pets you can carry, go to a stable master in town. Or if you got the extra cash, buy a bunch of Interdimensional Companion Repository from the AH. These give you portable stables. Each one is single use and lasts 10 min.

My favorites are a stag or raptor for pvp. The stag has cleanse and extra defensive. and the raptor has the MS effect and the break on slows. and I bear or snake for pve tanking. the bear has a flat damage reduction the snake has 30% dodge chance.

Most importantly you just have to like the look of your pet, but Petopia is a great resource

I go for functionality over looks so here’s what I currently have:

Water strider for surface trot so that I can walk on water. This will be replaced with a spirit beast when I get the strider mount.
Wolf for furious bite for a slow.
Nether ray for nether shock for dispel.
Wasp for toxic sting for mortal wounds.
Clefthoof for tanking because of blood of the rhino and thick hide giving it great tankiness.

On my MM hunter I pick similar pets, but have to use the non-exotic substitutes. Unfortunately, I can’t use the strider or spirit beast, so I’m still trying to find a 5th for that toon.
