What are night elves good for?

Isn’t it true that 97% of the characters on Moon Guard are Night Elves?

They’re the only race with the best (most useless) racial in the game. 33.3% chance for every jump to end with a front flip.

If it doesn’t have a beard, its not a dwarf.

I find it interesting how a lot of players seem to have some mindset of what each type of class should roll as. I have personally rolled a NE Warrior for DPS and PvP, that could also tank decently or off-tank as needed with gear swap.

Who cares if a class doesn’t generate as much threat? Warrior’s aren’t required to roll tank last I looked

It’s refreshing to actually see players ignore the “meta” and play the way they want, which has been proven to work just fine in dungeons and raiding with what classic has to offer.

Meld isn’t usable in combat in classic.

If you’re using a gun the weapon skill is better easily. If not then the agi.

I believe ranged weapons follow a hit table closer to melee than casters. So <305 skill means they need 9% hit for specials, meaning the gun weapon skill (assuming melee hit table) is equal to 3% hit on top of .2% crit.

It’s not a monster it’s a fact. IDC what he/she does but should I give inaccurate information? I’m gonna play a tauren hunter because I want to even though orc or troll is better.

Sure I can agree that in some cases a certain race may be better for certain classes, as such in a hunter, however, would a Tauren hunter actually break the game or not be able to play the class well?

Lets see, you get war stomp which is a great AOE stun to deal with “oh crap” moments if you get a bunch of mobs or even another player or 2 on you, thus giving you time to get range between you and them again.

Do you give up a small amount of dps by doing so, sure! Will you see any big differences in dps output in a raid vs troll or orc? Maybe by a small margin, but again do raids require you to reach a specific DPS in order to “win”?

Raids are team efforts, same as basic group dungeon delves, my point I was trying to get across is that it is very doable to play most classes with any race available and you will do just fine =)

Players here keep talking about challenges, but aren’t willing to step and actually challenge themselves because of #meta and no ability to actually think outside the box and do that “fun” thing.

Famous actor quote I always loved that I apply to these type of games: “Why so serious?!”

I would be more impressed with a guild that utilizes hybrids and outside the box thinking to actually do end game content, just because they can and actually do it successfully without a lot of issues in doing so.

The /dance.
Of females of course.

I’m sure people are willing to give up 2% of minmaxing for their little kitten.

While I agree with playing whatever you want. When someone asks I’m still going to answer them with the most optimized options just so they know. Since many players do care about min max.

Tauren receives no benefit for hunter. I will play it because they’re my favorite looking race. Orc best for leveling with pet dmg and PVP for stun resist. Troll best for pve with racial. These are facts. Not saying he has to care about min max but just informing them.

Gotcha, yeah I see where your coming from on that, for those who want a more solid min/max answer for various reasons, providing them factual info they want is prob best.

Aren’t they kinda negligible “facts,” though? Sure, 5% pet damage is nice: so if other pets do 100 damage, the Orc’s does 105. And that stun resist is nice for pvp. The Troll’s have higher base agility, a racial attack speed cooldown, and the +hit, which is nice if it were melee (reduces blocks, glancing blows, parry), but kinda negligible for ranged.

But is it necessary to have those extras? How much does it accomplish? In their starting area, Tauren have easy access to a wolf with Bite rank 2, nice skinning/leaterworking, great fishing/cooking, the only green ranged weapon quest reward, some green leather pants from a quest, and just a pretty zone in general. They also got the Native American motif, which some hunters might like.

I wouldn’t call that “nothing,” as it enhances the 1-10 experience, which is rough for a hunter. Just because those details are “facts,” doesn’t imply that “Trolls and Orcs make better hunters” is a fact. More like a preference.

Actually, it’s worth 1% hit + the corresponding reduction in hit from skill. So 1.2% extra chance to hit for ranged. Making the player need 8.4 hit instead of 9.6%. The skill is also worth .2% crit.

So 1.2% hit and .2% crit on guns vs 18 ap and .45% crit.

Either way, guns aren’t the only weapons you are going to want because some bows and xbows are better than your racial. Especially since guns make a loud sound that is easier to identify for pvp.

That’s not true if it follows the same hit table as melee, as 5 skill points is worth 2% hit + the 1% hit reduction. Although you’re right guns aren’t the only weapons nor the consensus best weapons. So without a gun NE better with a gun Dwarf better.

Also 9 agi isnt .45 crit. Hunters require 58 agi per crit making 9 agi .16% crit.

You’re almost never going to use a gun, though. Phase 1 pre-BiS… that’s about it. Troll is a better argument as Rhok’delar lasts much longer.

Like i said with a gun dwarf better without NElf/

So… Night Elf is better. You’re likely not going to get a DHC.

They do. Bm spec with additional pet dmg is very good. Also for raiding troll is the best. Even is it’s marginal it is still the best.

And the bonus pre 10 you’re talking about can all be cancelled by the fact that mulgore has the least optimized quests and quest grouping not to mention the quillboars and dwarven mining quests are insanely difficult and can’t be done without a group.
