What are good things to do during prepatch?

I’ve never been actively playing wow during a pre-patch. Seems like a weird time. If I wanted to play a new character when SL launches, should I level him now or wait for prepatch, for example?

I stopped playing early on in this tier, and don’t feel like grinding echoes for corruption that will go away in a few weeks IF I could even obtain them between the grind and vendor availability.

Test out the new class changes, change your character’s appearance with the new customization options, play through the scourge event (or rather a shell of its former self), play through the new questline and kill the rares in Icecrown for some gear, gear up your alts with the new vendor gear from the event, try out the new leveling experience and maybe level some alts with it.

Those are just some of the things you can do.

I would add: go through your bank and inventory, do a major cleaning and go through your quest log, get rid of quests you have no interest in. Prioritize pre expansion quests that reward some upgrade for you. Stuff like that; its what i usually do during pre-expansion phase.

1.) Try the changes and select a new main if you want one

2.) Enjoy the event, there are usually some good xmogs and mounts.

3.) Level, its the perfect time to bust out alts and get them to lvl cap.

4.) Xmog farming. Do old raids and get some cool stuff.

How far along are you and what do you plan to do with the new character? They keep saying leveling in shadowlands is faster, but some factors to consider:

  1. Some level brackets, like WoD and Legion, go by in a FLASH. I’m pretty sure they’re gonna nerf treasure chest leveling in WoD, and might nerf the assaults in Legion? Who knows

  2. If you want to play that new character in earnest when SL hits (Like, new main, or main-alt) you might want to do it sooner rather than later, as a time table consideration.

  3. The prepatch event gear is gonna be , I believe I heard, ilvl 100, which equates to 445. Not sure how good that will be for leveling in SL (as in, not sure how soon you’ll outgear Normal Nyalotha gear) But you could start leveling them now so when the prepatch comes you can just set to gear them up quickly and have them ready.

And to be fair, the prepatch is due in a few weeks now.

I’m leveling a warlock now, in part because most of my characters are done for the expansion (mostly mounts stuff, and I got the Nazjatar and Mechagon meta achievements done) and in part because I really just want to get them over the WoD hump at least. Seeing as how leveling through WoD now is 2-4 hours of flying around, I doubt the level squish can abbreviate that even more.
