What are bots doing in Felwood and Silithus?

On horde I see everyday the same 3 names: 2 in felwood for 8 hours straight and one in Silithus sometimes going to tanaris. Reason I notice this is because server is very small (Swamp of Sorrows) and I run census on it constantly when I am on.

I don t think there are any reps to farm on those two maps so could they be bots? I tried to talk to them but they either never anwer or have an automated response of “No ffs” when I ask a question with the word ‘bot’ in it which I think is triggering the automated response since no other word gets a response back.

I m not high enough level to go hunt them down in Felwood so I was wondering if you guys had any idea if they could be herbing bots? The server has less than 20 players on horde at any time so I wonder what is the point of boting gold when there is no market? Are they able to send that gold to other realms?

Silithus: cenarion circle

Not saying they aren’t bots but just clarifying there are faction reasons to be in those zones.

Felwood is a great place to farm mageweave and felcloth. I imagine both sell well on the AH. Silithis has some nice resources - thorium, sandworm meat, runecloth, etc. The mobs there also drop some nice greens (by my experience.)

I guess it could be reps but more than a week all day every day on an empty server on SOM where there are zero raids going and where the toons will be deleted when SOM ends? That s why I think those are bots because there is no economy on that server…right now there are 12 people on that server on horde

It happens that all the mageweave on the Horde AH is sold by a single player…the toon that spends all its time in Felwood. I think I found my first bot on that server

I am certainly not sticking up for or supporting bots/botting but I think you should level up so you can observe the player behavior first hand before reaching that conclusion.

Also to address the concerns at the end of your original post, if it is a bot/botter they could be getting the gold then taking a free ride to Jom with it. Not saying that’s definitely happening though.

I have been taking census of the server for weeks now to check on population for a personal project and everyday I see the same 60s in the same maps, unguilded, never doing pvp bgs on a pvp server, never doing dungeons and they all repeat the exact same flight patterns every day. They really stand out on a server where there are only a handful people.

Felwood is a great zone, there are also demonic runes there, whipper root tubers etc. Although I do not think that’s what’s getting farmed in this scenario.

People will farm things like herbs and mines and then mail what they got to another character and free transfer that other character to a big server. You seem to suspect this too. Doing this does not mean botting, however.

There are also gold farmers who do not bot. When you describe it in the way you do I think of these players. I’ve seen a few who stay in one zone for about 20 hours a day for months on end, but they are not botting. This isn’t as reportable.

Without seeing what’s happening it’s hard to say.

In order to conclude “8 hours”, you (too) must (also) have reached this goal, yourself. You just proved a non-bot can achieve 8 hours.

Not an effective tactic in trying to stop bots from botting. Your best bet is to report and move on.

Maybe, maybe not.

How do you know it’s “all day/every day”? Did you (yourself) be in the game “all day/every day” to come to this conclusion?

That’s not true. SoM characters will be able to be saved onto the perma servers.

It’s easier to farm on quieter servers.

Could be a bot. Could be a legit player out of 12 players willing to go out and farm. Especially for a player like you who admits to not being appropriate level, yet to farm appropriate materials, for what you need.

Like you said, in a small community, and if you look deep enough, you’ll know who the more “active” players are. And, you don’t have to do BGs, even if you’re on a PvP Server. What kind of self-imposed rule is that?

Do players have to do dungeons? I purposefully avoid doing them. And, a small server with 12 people requires a lot of Guild Sigs to create a guild, in the first place. Maybe not all 12 players mesh with each other and just can’t be in a Guild, together. Maybe, there’s just no Guild on this alleged “small server”. Again, if you truly think they’re bots, report and move on. That’s all you can do.

And you wonder why people can’t stand you?

Huh.

The self-righteous accusing others of being self-righteous? Beautiful irony.

Harsh, but fair.

Well, silithus has air elementals which are needed for the enchant gloves-agility which is still used by rouges/tanks/hunters, as for felwood the only reason I would think felwood has gromsblood which is used for rage potions, and demon slaying potions and might be less likely to have competition as basted lands has weapon levelers and people making commute to outland.

Felwood is good for farming essence of water, living essence, and felcloth.

Upon checking the AH it is now clear. Only 2 people have posted 633 items/stacks of herbs and cloth including pages of black lotus or whatever the super hard to find herb. Let me also say that the items on the AH are ONLY from the 2 bots I found minus about 20 items from players.

As for you piper, I m not aware of what was decided about SOM toons once it ends. I don t really see how SOM toons are going to be merged to regular vanilla without losing names or just keeping those servers dead…doesn t make sense.

And as for the reason why I am online as much as the bots, as I mentioned I am doing a personal project but I do not have 60s constantly in the same zones and then straight to the AH all day everyday. These people are obvious bots, don t answer whispers, are unguilded and come at the same time everyday.

They have been reported and evidence was given
