What Am I In Combat With?

Blizzard, it’s 2024. This is a question that no one should have to ask themself. Whatever we have aggro on should be actively trying to attack us.

how hard can it be if youre in PvE and nothing has attacked you in say 60 seconds, to just break the damned combat?
had this NUMEROUS times last week. VERY annoying but he who shall not be named seems like its ok to waste our time with it forever and ever amen.
Even logging out doesnt fix it half the time.

I don’t know if this is real or not but I’ve always found it to be the worst in WoD zones

Yourself. It’s an eternal struggle.

This is why we need built-in threat meters. Anything we’re in combat with should show up on said meters. And since this would be Blizz’s own UI instead of an addon tapping into what the game allows Addons to know, it should cover everything we are in combat with, not just things the Addon can see from the logs.

I hate to bring this subject up, but… FFXIV.

Blizz is willing to take some ideas from FFXIV, let this be one of the many that they borrow.

Very good idea.
I wonder how that would work when its dead and whats actually got you trapped ‘in combat’ is the body you forgot to loot?
I cant count how many times the in combat thing was over my not looting everything. The second I loot, Im out of combat. lol.

That should not be happening, though I do suppose that in some circumstances, the game forgets to send a “This is now dead, so combat is over” to the client.

And then when you loot the corpse, the game is updating the server and the server goes
“oh yeah btw, he’s not in combat with this anymore, because it’s dead” and then combat ends.

Kinda stupid but that’s what I think is happening with that case. Maybe make it so that it will show up in the threat meter as a dead enemy and you simply click on it and the update is caused.

Because in XIV, the threat meters there let you target enemies too. Like, if you see an enemy in the threat meter, you can click the enemy in the threat meter to target them. Very handy when there’s 20 mobs around you and you want to grab a specific enemy.

Can also keep dead mobs in the threat list when they still have loot, too. Put them at the bottom obviously.

Would adding a “target next mob that is attacking me” command break the game?

(politely assuming it doesn’t already exist and I’ve just been oblivious to it all this time)

In Shadowlands it was really bad because all the world quest areas were so small. If anyone else nearby was in combat, you were too. Made playing a stealth class near impossible sometimes.

Every time I get a quest I go out, see things with red labels and if they don’t attack me I attack them. What is everyone else missing?

Ahhh…the age old question. You are in combat. WITH WHAT BLIZZARD?! WHAT AM I IN COMBAT WITH?!

You’re all in combat with me. :dracthyr_comfy_sip: I just haven’t decided to attack yet. :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

Luckily hunters can get out of combat by feigning death. I always do that on my hunter whenever I get stuck in combat.

I did spend more time than I care to admit trying to figure out why I was in aggro before I noticed a rat critter chewing on my ankle. Never play with the sound off :stuck_out_tongue:

I shouldn’t be sharing this information for a lot of reasons, but I’m deep incognito.

I know some folks and this is very likely on the way. There are some technical and ethical details being worked out. Yes. I said ethical.

It’s the method of deployment.

Remember a month or two, maybe 3 months ago. Those watches on the TP??
They’re aware of more than just you’re agro…
