So I playied dk in bfa with no problem but now I’m struggling
I ran with other unholy dks that seem to be doing alot better at lower il i asked them for advice and they looked at my gear and had me fight mobs they dont get eaither
Which makes me feel like I’m doing something seriously wrong iv watched videos looked up rotation everything they say to do is what I do
But I only put out 1 to 7k dps (il 180) bosses are often 2k
I don’t know how are you rotating, but try to always use epidemic on > 3 mobs, since it is quadratic scaling ( Don’t forget to use virulent plague or unholy blight before), check if your pets aren’t passive and the Claw spell is automatic ( or make a macro to use it asap ). Use Army of The Dead on bosses ( Some raid fights allows you to use it 2 times ).
I tried to link the icy veins unholy page but they won’t let me lol. Anyways - go to Google and look up the 9.0.2 icy veins guide for unholy.
This is a good place to start. It’s generally got some pretty up to date info (most of the time).
For example, I can see that you’ve taken the talent ‘all will serve’, but you haven’t taken ‘unholy blight’. Unholy blight is pretty important if you’re running a single target build (Also really good in AoE, but the sores build is better).
This will essentially be whats needed if you indicate you’re following proper rotation to the best of your knowledge. Will be hard for us to pick out whats actually wrong or spots for improvement.
I think I’m also curious of what Covvies you choose on your Dk. It may or may not affect your rotation quite a bit.
Like Death’s Due for instance, as Unholy, that strength buff is just maintenance bro. I use Defile every single time it’s off CD and I am extra aware and worry about where to stand in thanks to how bright the texture is that blinds myself and others.
… Really wish I went Necrolords now but I’m far too invested into Fae to change anything so it is what it is.
Epidemic is important for >3 mobs like Pentakill says. In fact, VP is very important in general. Try Festercleaving, a technique where you apply FW on each mob you apply and you pop them multiples at once with DnD and SS/CS. Apoc, UB, DT are your important burst dps sources and if you want to burst even harder, Army is your friend.
That’s a fundamental of Unholy in the nutshell. It sounds like you could need practice of it. I know I need some too sometimes since Death’s Due just complicate things for me. x,x
Correct talents and stat priority goes a long way.
Besides that, just follow skill prio on rotation. UH is a really simple dps - as long as you do what I mentioned above you can do a lot of damage and parse well.
Ok I use outbreak then epidemic abomination limbs 1 or two festering strikes apocalypse dark trans unholy blight
Soul reaper on anything around half health or lower (not sure really when to use soul reaper)
Festering I try to get up to 6 and scrourge inside death and decay (I’m working on this one lol)
On a boss I use army and dark trans unholy blight right away and kind of just throw everything I got after that
Okay, here is what I mean by explaining your rotation again as if you’re in combat and in order of sequence: You can’t use Epidemic right after you cast Outbreak, you’re 20 RP short.
My opener is usually, for a big opener: Army -> DT -> FeS -> FeS -> Apoc -> UB -> Your Cov Ability -> Filler/Normal Rotation
Your UB already applies VP so Outbreak is not really needed. Besides, VP is just a DoT and a maintenance that’s still important.
SR only works if anyone is below 35% health, other than that it’s a waste of GCD.
Also, you don’t have to get FW up to 6 stacks on every target. You don’t want to use FeS when a target has 4 FW stacks since it applies 2-3 stacks per FeS usage.
I watched a rotation guide on YouTube and I try to fallow that since I’m new to dk
I just think dk is a super cool class and alot of fun
When I started dk I couldent play it at all I just died everywhere I knew nothing iv come along way but still feel like I’m doing something wrong
Some of the things u listed I dident know like the 6stacks and festering inside of death and decay
Do you have an issue with tanks moving everything out of dnd?
The best way to learn a class is to actually play it and figure out the passive bonuses you have to see the big picture. You can use those guides as a reference.
Unholy has a lot to keep track of. Not only you need to keep track of FW, VP and know what all the abilities do. You also need to know the fundamentals of DK resources like the rune system. For Unholy, you are expected to do all of that to be effective along with CDs as well.
You don’t want to use FeS when a target has 4 FW stacks. That’d be potentially a waste of FW. Usually FeS is used twice to be in the 4-6 FW stacks. That’s generally the rule of thumb with FeS and FW.
And yes, I have experienced tanks moving out of dnd. That’s why I have Grip of the Dead to give them a middle finger as well as defile expanding it like it’s nobody’s business.
All the time, especially when I had deaths due. It was like they were avoiding it because they thought it was a dungeon mechanic or enemy skill. I would have to remind them thats some good cleave they’re screwing up lol
I’ve learned that popping your cooldowns on every thing helps, I did a regular dungeon yesterday because my ilvl was only 130 something and maintained 2.1k overall being beaten my an enhancement shaman who did 2.3k. Funny thing is that I’m in greens and still have several pieces of gear from the end of the last expansion, he was full 184+, made me feel good, lol.
