So many complaints I am seeing about M0 being too hard, players not inviting me to content, getting good groups is hard and just the general upset players who find they can’t get anything done in this game and how we should all somehow be magically treated with some pixie dust or something to ensure we can all actively participate and whatever about how your time is important.
But what about my time? Do those who complain not stop to think about someone else’s time and what they are going through?
For example someone complains it’s too hard to get invited into a normal raid or low key, they can’t get into groups and waste a lot of time searching for nothing. Seen some people state they try for hours and nothing. OK let’s for the sake of the argument assume someone is spending 2-3 hours in LFG and not getting a single invite.
Yes it can happen, and yes it is frustrating, but on the flip side right now there are 19 groups listed for VoTI total, that’s it, a potential of 570 people total in NA can be invited to and raid in one of the listed groups. It’s peak now for OCE, there are far more than 570 people who want to raid and are trying to pug.
There is a reason why we ask for more information, why we want more clarity, why some ask for logs and commendation systems to upvote people in game, and anything really that is going to make players more transparent on what they can offer to your group.
With so little people making groups and so many trying to get in, how do you pick? You may think because you pay that you are deserving to join any and all content, but how can you? Without getting into semantics it is a numbers game, simply put, there are not enough people making groups to accommodate everyone trying to get in and that’s assuming everyone is of an equal skill level and a similar iLVL.
So what about my time? What do I do? How can I best utilise what time I have to play to my best advantage? Well, premades of course, but if I cannot? I have to now look at logs, iLVL, class, spec, M+ and raid history, I need to be careful who I pick, I can’t be taking anyone who signs up just because they are a paying customer, because I am also a paying customer and I also need to think about my own time.
It doesn’t always work, some higher iLVL players with good M+ and raid history are bad, some lower ones are great, but we cannot separate them so we have to go with a higher chance to get it right, take those with better stats.
You may think you are deserving to join someones group because “It’s only a low key” or that “I am a great player”, but reality is that those people hosting groups also need to think about themselves, there is just not enough hosting and too many asking.
Sometimes you need to stop and think:
- Why is this person not inviting me?
- What can I do to get noticed?
- How can I improve and get into more groups?
- How can I better myself?
There are many things, first hosting your own group is the easiest way, even if your stats are balls, there are many lazy people who in low content will be willing to carry you just because it’s easier than making a group.
There are other ways to get gear, we have now had 4 weeks of weekly quests, each offering a 493 champion piece of gear, and each component related to those quests offering a 480 veteran piece of gear. That’s now up to 12 pieces of 480 and 4 pieces of 493 gear, not including the upgrades. We have also had now two TW raids, 2 TW dungeon quests, two crafted pieces of gear and if you done the mythic dungeon quest last week, 3 pieces of BiS vendor gear, plus whatever else I am missing.
Do all those and you would easily have a 490 iLVL without even spending stones or crests, instantly you are in a better situation than you were 4 weeks ago. Do some upgrades, maybe some luck with LFR, get more stones and crests, all of a sudden anyone could be at 500+ iLVL.
Now you can carry yourself in low keys, start low, work your way up, get your own rating. You can also go and do some research, watch some videos and make your own normal raids, normal is not much harder than LFR, you don’t even have to finish the raids, just get some experience, get some stats. You don’t need to push M10 in dungeons, just do something, show people that you are trying, get some gear and M+/raid stats, now all of a sudden you are in a much better situation than those who are not trying and only complaining about not being invited.
And after all that what will happen? You will see it all from the other side, instead of wondering “What about me?”, you will start looking at everyone else asking that question and think “I done it, I spent my time improving, what about my time, why should I invite you?”.
THIS a thousand times.
It may be your time that you think is valuable and ask the “What about me?” question, but it’s also my time, and that person’s time, it’s everyone’s time and we need to equally value each other and look at it from all perspectives.
