What about learning other languages? (A smol request)

Like…push a lil more dev time towards than instead of to balancing/shaking up the pvp/raid/dungeon meta. Trying to keep that fresh is an endless task that doesn’t really allow for any player interaction besides complaints.

BUT! What about givin us stuff to do out in the world? Things to explore, read, and see?

What about sticking all those little books back in the world to add some more lore to the things that you’re setting up? They’re optional, they’re fun to find, and they’re often a good read!

Now this is a toughie - but what about adding something like…okay so I don’t know the adjective for it, but the act of being a Bard.
Give us super basic music system and just watch us go wild! Sure, we’ll get some really crappy stuff, but that’s humanity for ya! Within that muck and grime, you’ll find real jewels!
It’d also be neat to have a jam session when we’re waiting for some people to join a raid!

Language mastery. Basically you can technically join any reputation to learn their language - though the methods behind this can be, at times, super convoluted.
Draenei, for instance, speak furbolg pretty fluently because of that questline in Azuremyst - if you character did it, at least. Maybe this unlocks some neat interactions with other furbolg tribes!

Or, say you’re a human seeking to learn Orcish. You’d have to go somewhere like the Argent dawn to find someone to teach you it, leveling up rep with that specific person then, - but from there you could eavesdrop on you enemies, or scream profanities to the sky!

Or just chat. But I know the former two are what y’all’ll go for.

How about…weapon naming! With the current reserved word restrictions applied of course, but it’d allow crafters to add a slightly more personal, or impersonal, touch to their items! I mean what would you buy? "Mortis’s Bracers of Death" - or "Shadowghast Armguards #471"

A very, very small thing - can we add apostrophes, spaces, and dashes to our names? It doesn’t feel right playing a troll and not being able to call myself Jin’Ado if I want to. Or like…maybe a goblin called Muckswill Coppersole.

I know there’s addons for all of this - but it’d be cool to get it in the base game. :relaxed:

The addon ‘Tongues’ has a feature to “learn” languages over time by being exposed to them, which is kind of neat.

But obviously it doesn’t work for base languages so it’s all specific to the addon (and other players, not NPCs), and it’s an addon that doesn’t see a lot of use to begin with, and most of the use it does get is for auto-accents, not so much for languages.

Anyway, just throwing that out there 'cus it’s interesting. Doesn’t really bring this to reality.

I’m currently looking for RP addons to satisfy my rpg drive - WoW style, that is. I’ll check this one out!

So you want Mario Paint and Duolingo in WoW?!
Not against it but not interested either.

I do. :3
I know it’s not for everybody, but hey,
I’m not too interested in pushing higher and higher keys, or min-maxing my gear to smash other players.

Maybe not learn the other faction language cuz that’ll be abused as hell

But learning the language of the races of your faction? Yea that’d be a neat thing to work towards

I mean…if we’re frank, there’s a ton of abuse already existing on our own factions. I don’t think it’d necessarily change much. :frowning:

Still a valid point though.

Take dev time away from the core, fundamentals of the game to introduce systems that would be used by a fraction of a fraction of the playerbase.

Yah that sounds like an outstanding business proposition…

(Maybe it’d get more people interested in those things? Bring some other people to the game? I mean goodness I don’t play an mmo just to play a slightly more complex dota/hack and slash.)

Also I mean goodness, with the way nobody’s satisfied, I think that NOT changing classes might actually give you guys more time to settle into something for once.

That argument’s dead. Pandaren understand eachother across faction as do Blood / Void Elves.

Just drop the Language barrier. If it’s abused, report.

People aren’t satisfied because the class design and balance is bad. It’s not because we’ve had more time to “settle in”.

So you want to take development time away from the components that 99% + of the playerbase take part in. Sorry, that’s real dumb.

The game was originally based on the idea of doing dungeons and raids and pvp to get gear to do harder versions of that same content. It’s always been that way, and has never been really good as a true RPG. If they thought languages and playing music would make them more money or even be popular we would have seen it years ago.

:sunglasses:
This game’s been around 18 years now, or about that. If the class design and balance isn’t fixed by this point, it’s never going to be.
So…why doesn’t everyone do what everyone should, and make the best of a bad situation!

Pretty sure I already speak panda.

Yub nub, eee chop, yub nub ah toe meet

EXCUSE ME?

Listen I don’t know how you even KNOW about that, but don’t you DARE talk about my father that way. Want me to hit you with some Taur’ahe? Cause I will!

Moo. Moroooow. Moo.

I don’t know why but I like that

I have an add on for my void elves so they can speak Shath’yar, the language of the black empire and the old gods
