How will Shadowlands be for a casual solo player? I have played since WOW beta and have enjoyed solo play in Legion and in BFA - never got into dungeons. I can’t group very well.
There’s Torghast, but sadly no solo mode for endgame stuff yet.
Torghast is looking very good for solo play.
or at least with just one other person of any class should help immensely
Do you like Rogue-like games? Torghast.
If you don’t… nothing, really.
everything you’ve already been doing plus torghast
What does that mean? Everyone keeps using the term, but I don’t actually know what it means.
I understand the concept of Torghast, and I understand how it’s supposed to work, but I don’t get what “Rogue-like game” means.
Games inspired by this old one:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_(video_game)
From what I’ve gathered, it’s a dungeon crawler with randomly generated power-ups (and layout?) and a tendency to create a hugely varied experience because of how effective they are.
I think one of the more modern examples was “The Binding of Issac”.
Thanks for the clarification.
There’s always gonna be solo play content to do
The keys for a rogue-like are (1) procedural content (each run is different) and (2) when you die, you’re done, you have to start over.
WoW is 16 years old. At this point Blizzard is using mechanics from other RPG genres to keep the game fresh. M+ is basically a cross between MMO dungeons and D3’s greater rifts, with affixes and timer. Torghast is basically a cross between WoW combat/encounters and rogue-like procedural generation and one-and-done death mechanic. Blizzard is designing content this way in an effort to keep the game fresh by incorporating designs from other RPG genres and cross-breeding them with MMO content types.
it better go well because Im not running dungeons at all this time around except for those few quests that require them.
I loved running group content in Legion but BFA dungeons suck rump and players have become exponentially worse with the behavior somehow since BFA started.
The wife just stopped running group content entirely over it. Too many foul mouthed sorts in there foaming about every little thing, always cussing at someone, trying to vote kick over the most asinine crap.
Im running resto druid and as solo as the game allows.
And the covenant stuff too; can’t forget that. Their will still be LFR and PvP depending on how you define “solo player”.
So from the looks of it casual tanking and healing are completely out of the question. On the Bright side there’s always Torghast.
Sorry unfortunate Healers and Tanks, looks like you may need specialize as Damage Dealing to be viable.
If your referring to torghast I’m sure they will implement the same thing they did in visions, nerf to mob hp if going as tank or healer solo
After reading all the comments I cant believe thats all they see this game as. Just “end game”. Are you kidding me. Bad info your all giving to this player. You do not need end game gear to solo play in shadowlands. Its obvious hes not going to 1 man the final raid boss. thats not what was asked.
Play every quest, farm WQ gear and do regular or heroic mode and this player is set to solo the shadowlands world. Whenever you see a WQ find group you join, kill what ya need to and leave. After that do what you want. Me I collect pets, mounts and achievements. I stopped hard raiding years ago. Just dont care for it anymore. I am not bored in the slightest.
This game has way to much to just think of it as “lets get to end game fast as possible then complain we are bored. But we can brag were first until the next patch”. Those players are funny. Totally forgot to enjoy the experience.
Enjoy Kay.
(Yup go ahead and flag it for no reason except being angry)
From what I’ve experienced, as long as you don’t want to max level enchanting, you’ll be fine
It depends on what you expect from gameplay. If you want to run around and do quests and like to feel that there an endless number of quests that you can do, it might just be awesome. If you expect to keep up with others (gear wise) well you will be greatly disappointed. The learning curve for M+ dungeons is quite severe, and good luck finding random tanks for M+, they seem to expect you to be 20-30 item levels higher than content before they will readily invite, just like BFA.
Yep. I don’t plan on running any at all. Anything I can’t do solo, with maybe the exception of LFR, I’m not doing.
Oh sorry. Just saw this was a stupid necro.
I dont know why they make such a big deal about necroing threads around here, lol.
But yeah…Im ONLY running group content where REQUIRED to finish quests or maybe to get a decent drop.
ive run maybe 7 dungeons so far…seen THREE votes to kick already, lol
