He just hates the thought of lfd cutting into this gdkp runs.

You don’t get tired of spouting that nonsense?

My arena grind last week was a chore. It was the end of the WoW week and I had to harass my partner into logging in. He did, very grudgingly and angrily it seemed. It reflected in our play; it didn’t go to well last week for us.

All because I didn’t want to miss out on arena points…

All because I can’t earn arena points on my own through skirmishes, BGs, or being able to solo queue for rated arena…

My arena partner, is my brother!!! How much more social than that do you want me to be?

He’s also a former rogue player who rerolled tank.

I bet no one wanted his rogue.

i wanted to like your comment but a system messaged said that i’ve reached the maximum likes i can use for today, However I don’t spam press likes, i only use likes for those who understand that LFG is really helpful because the game have insane grouping problems at this point, so i guess there are tons of lfg-lovers fighting for lfg everyday & that made me happy.

lfg haters are nothing to began with, i’m shocked from the results.

If you are not playing on a dead server from the get go in wotlk then I can assure you, even if a tank or healer leaves mid dungeon that it wont take long to fill this up again. Phase 1 is always the best phase in terms of dungeons and if they add it with phase 2 it will just be fine.

Can just agree however that “dead” servers are just doomed at that point without the tool though (not that they weren’t already lol), but makes it even more of a disadvantage aside from no AH economy and such.

on Faerlina which is massive server, I couldn’t even get into any groups for many weeks at phase1 in tbc-c Because every random group was asking for frost mages, so i leveled by questing and on 70’s dungeon everyone in random groups was asking for warlocks/frost mages, ele.

people say dungeon finder queue will be long, but i doubt that LFG will take days/weeks to get me into groups if i’m not playing a meta class/spec.

Couple of points here:

  1. You can block the word ‘boost’ and all the others, and LFGBB looks far more reasonable (if less populated).
  2. Those services exist because people use them. If the LFD experience becomes “Carry me for free, random players” because people are used to that, it will be exactly the same thing with no way to avoid it.

Gotta say, 100% this has not been my experience on a medium sized server, with an active Discord that (for some reason) likes to name and shame Guilds whose members misbehave. Almost like playing on a ‘megaserver’ is part of the problem you think LFD will magically solve.

Part of why I don’t want LFD is to avoid having to group with the megaserver-mindset players on Faerlina, Benediction, Arugal etc.

You brought up a good point and why I still form pugs even when I am in guilds/have friends. Just because you have people you can run with doesn’t mean they will always be there to run with you at every, single moment you want them to.

Other people have their lives as well, even your friends and guild mates. They can’t always just drop everything because you want to run ramps today. Just like you might not be able if you are busy and they want to. Life gets in the way. Even sometimes a guild mate can’t help you out as they are helping other guild members out and they can’t help everyone at once.

Amusingly despite removing LFD, they’re also removing Arena teams in Wrath so you can group with anyone.

That still requires you to group. I want to earn currency on my own or have a tool to find partners, for anything… PvE to PvP.

There is a huge aspect to this topic that I feel people don’t discuss nearly enough.

This is considering LFD is in btw.

If you’re a tank, you get insta queues. Sometimes you queue out of boredom, sometimes you need gear, sometimes you’re with a friend or two and just helping. All are fine

If you’re a healer you get insta queues. Same reasons above apply.

If you’re a dps, the queue takes awhile, so you can continue to do things while you wait. Go quest, go herb, afk, go duel people, etc etc. Doesn’t matter what you do, the fact is it allows the player to PLAY (or not if they have to afk) as opposed to eyeing the message board -NON STOP- they don’t have a choice, and also, if they don’t message them fast enough, or its not a “meta” dps they’ll either be told no, or just ghosted.

For me as a tank, I desperately want LFD. I find it fun. When bored, I greatly enjoy queuing up and tanking random dungeons. I HATE the current system of LFG Bulletin Board. Its functional for now, but its so far from perfect… And again, this is a tank POV. As a dps (alt is a warlock) I’d much, much, much rather go farm w/e while queued instead of standing around in town eyeing the bulletin board.

And the main argument I see regarding all of this is the “social aspect”. Bruh. Outside of general pleasantries, nothing much is ever said in pug runs (the ones that LFD would affect). If people truly hate the teleport aspect… fine, remove it. I think its silly, but also would be willing to give it up. Again, I think its VERY silly because, who cares? All it does is save some time, helps lowbies level more easily without relying on paid boosts and again, allows people to play the game. Be it farming, questing, etc.

Edit: To tack on. They said something about how they want people to explore the world, see it, etc. They’ve said this for almost every xpac (its why they delay flying for the first few months every xpac), but this is WoTLK. This is NOT new content. It may be for a very minor few people, but LFD would still give them the original experience. And after the dungeon is over… Guess what, they can fly around and explore while they’re queued up.

They aren’t circles, they are pugs, that’s the whole point.

So you use a third party tool to avoid this behavior?

And you’re assuming everyone on a mega server has this mindset you speak of… Most people on mega servers went there because they literally had no choice. They had already transferred their entire guild+alts to a server just to see it die again. The mega server is the only logical choice after spending hundreds of dollars due to failed game design, just to be sure you’re server doesn’t turn into the next EF.

damn with all those pro lfd thread crying out that social interaction is dead… nice to see you guys are talking to each other to try to overcome what caused the wiped. :+1:

Also people leaving a dungeon after a wipe has nothing to do with the lack of lfd, people are disappointed and just come to show how easier it will be to recreate with lfd in wrath. The fact that you say ‘nice classic grouping’ shows how ignorant you are to the fact that this type of people will be able to q just as much with lfd in wrath. Another point to show that pro lfd player are doing some sort of witch hunt to attribute bad player behavior to no lfd.

You’re so close to understanding the point but just don’t seem to grasp it…

The situation in group is now for a lot of people no different than it would be with LFD but finding the groups is harder/more annoying. Making LFD a net win over the current situation.

Not sure why they thought removing it would be a good idea. Even though the community is mandela effect delusional about LFD being the thing that nose-dove WoW, it wasn’t even remotely a bad thing. Know what’s really bad? The “wild west, finger on the abort button” M+ system in retail. The GDKP “but you get paid to raid bro!” system, wholesomely popularized by the community itself.
LFD was actually socially enriching, fun, and convenient (this coming from a snobby top tier raider at the time), especially for leveling alts. Have fun gearing up your 5th toon mid expansion on a Thursday night without losing your mind.

oh i totally understand the point and what you guys are fighting for and i got no issue with blizzard releasing lfd once ICC comes out, but no sooner.
The start of tbc was really enjoyable for me to level since a lot of people were questing and helping each other. The thing is i see so many asking for it to be added on launch and that’s what makes me be against lfd.
LFD is supposed to be rewarding increase xp rate and with having seen more than half my guild leveling through dungeon spamming up to 70 in TBC which reduced the player presence in the outworld. I’m just worried that this will be even more a problem.

A lot of experiences are this way. Rdf brought nothing but good. Who wants to stare at LFG and wait for an hour to start a 15-30 min experience? Only a select few people that play entirely too much

Last night I logged in with an alt and when I logged in there was a group “LF1M OHB need tank”, when I logged off some time later they were still “LF1M need tank” but I believe they were also offering 100 gold.

Imagine going in the internet and telling lies to try and manipulate people into doing what you want.

Pathetic.
