All the way to the last chest of Throne of Thunder and “you cant do that while in combat” trying to loot the LAST frikkin chest of the raid.
Apparently I must have missed looting something somewhere 5 miles back.

Are you referring to Lei Shen, or Ra-den? 'cause Ra-den has been bugged if you solo ToT for like 2 years. Put in a GM ticket and they can get you the Ra-Den loot:

it was Magaera. After all the heads died and the chest comes up it tells me I cant do that (loot) while in combat.
i do this one a lot and its never happened before…not that that means anything, bugs being what bugs are and all.
There are several old content raids that have been having that “in combat” bug. No fix as yet.
“Old raids”? Hades you can be out in the world and aggro a level 1 yellow critter, and that thing is RELENTLESS.

True, but it’s easier to get away from that just takes several minutes. There is currently no way to reset the raid loot when this happens in an instance.

omg. Ive killed world trash before and then had to backtrack for like 10 minutes I think trying to find what I killed but didnt loot.
Logged off and back on…used /reload…nothing. Stuck in combat till I found the corpse and looted it.

Yep. It’s an issue in Emerald Nightmare for the boss skip quest. If you get that bug on Cenarius, then the loot chest will despawn once you finally leave combat, and then there’s no way to get it again. And no way to get the quest item.
Guess posting with the character in question might not hurt anything

You probably held aggro from one of the buttloads of trash on the way to Magaera. I’ve done that before.

Most of the time when its happened I find out theres some trash thing I didnt see and loot. Looting it has always fixed the problem immediately in the past, but this raid is flipping huge. I have no clue where to even start looking
Well that is inconvenient, normally I just get the items in the mail if I don’t loot them. With the exception of the gold anyway.
Since bliz can’t fix this issue they should just give everyone vanish/shadow meld.
Sure it’s not a proper fix but how many years till they fix it. Of course they could also put on code that takes you put of combat after 2 mins with nothing doing damage to you but that is too easy.

The chest just disappeared and I got nothing.
I had this same problem like a month or two ago running Siege of Orgrimmar for Spoils of Pandaria. Really frustrating. Killed another boss then came back but still couldn’t loot the chest.
I had that happen to me as well. Nothing I could do until I did “Feign Death”. Glad I was using my Hunter…but it fixed the problem and I was able to loot the chest and continue on…
I get the combat bug all the time, raids, dungeons, outdoor, you name it. Even in IE when a team mate aggros a mob and puts me in combat, if I do not attack it (even if they kill it) I stay in combat.
Those mobs in dungeons that are fighting each other? Aggro them without hitting them and they force you in combat until they die.
There are so many bugs around combat it is all a joke at this point, I just die if I get stuck in combat, easier than figuring out why.

Its beyond absurd that it hasnt been fixed in all this time, let alone been given some band aid to at least make it not so common.
MoP content is the absolute worst for “in combat” for me.
But that probably is because thats where I spend the bulk of my time.
