As a warrior I see warriors shout increases everyone’s attack power but does anyone know how much each point equals out to? I’ve never understood how helpful it is.
Since your reply was deleted I’m only going to assume you said. “Google it”
I believe attack power is strength x2 so if you have 5000 strength, thus 10,000 attack power that translates into more dps on your weapons. If that 10,000 gets a 5% buff that is a whopping 500 attack power or 250 strength which is useful.
This also translates down the line into things that crit more thus more dps overall. Base additional crit damage in WoW is 50% I believe extra damage when it happens.
Wow! Ok! Thank you! Soo that’s why my warrior feels decent on an orc. Also makes sense why they took away being able to add attack power as an enchantment too.
I thought STR = AP was 1:1?
From what I’ve looked up it’s a 1:1 ratio.
And then one has to ask why does it exist and not just use primary stat? Because primary stat gets converted for different things by different specs, like a tanks defensives. That way there is a small bump in dps, but without jacking with all the specs that can benefit under the hood.
Yeah that’s why I was partially confused on it. 1.1 meaning per point of strength or per point of attack power? Wouldn’t that make it only a few points of strength extra?
1 Strength is = to 1 attack power. It effects weapon damage, or ranged weapon damage (for hutners). So when a weapon swing is calculated attack power goes towards it along with their strength, but it doesn’t go towards say a ret paladins ability to off heal as a percentage of their strength is converted to how much they can heal.
The attack power buff is really good, but it keeps it from being over powered as classes and specs utilize their primary stats in different ways.
This is a very good explanation! Thanks for educating us!
1 point of strength = 1 point of attack power. That has been a thing since WoD.
Each point of Agility or Strength now grants 1 Attack Power (down from 2). All other sources of Attack Power now grant half as much as before.
Good to know. I rarely ever even look at this info as it confuses me as to how much dps it even adds anymore per attack power. But the general gist I guess was correct as the % can give you a nice small boost in overall dps of course.
Wait a minute this just makes me ask more questions! because versatility also adds to your moves and abilities dmg! So your telling me for physical dmg users have 3 variables? Attack power, strength and versatility ? That makes the number crunch harder.
No, I made a point that I realized I couldn’t quite back up. I said that 5% more AP means 5% more dmg, but it doesn’t take into account things like the head enchant, embellishments, weapon procs and trinket procs. The more of these effects you have, the better crit and vers become.
I think this is the exact reason why online gear bots exist, so a machine can calculate all the variables in halg a second and remove all guess work (for the most part)
Your just hitting the tip of the iceberg.
That’s crazy bro! You got more of that iceberg to share?
