13 years ago oct/nov of 2010 i was on my druid running to docks during the elemental invasion for cata, and i was darn near dead when a human male mage helped her. Out of allll the people i ran by he helped me. We eventually started talking ingame, then exchanged numbers, fast foward to now. We live together, and he is on his death bed… best memory of the game was meeting my BF id do it all over again in a heart beat. Going to miss him, and will be difficult to play w/o him.
Being in a committed relationship for some time now, I sometimes think about being without my partner or her being without me and it scares the living daylights out of me.
Truly sorry for your loss. I hope that you can take comfort in the memories you made with him.
When I first started leveling this chick back in BC, had no clue what a wand was and so I level spamming smite/SW:P and went straight disc for meditation mana regen because I didn’t understand spirit, or Spirit Tap. Nightmare scenario was every single NPC runner who pulled more adds as I only had mana for 1-2 mobs at most. I also kept bags full of water which made carrying quest items tricky at the time.
I also remember hittting 36, spending months just doing BGs because I hated questing, for obvious reasons listed above, until I decided to dungeon grind to max level. Ended up becoming known as the lowbie healer that pretty much never turned down a dungeon, and got a lot of tells while leveling that turned into offers for guilds once I eventually hit max level. Which happened right as the WoTLK prepatch landed.
I also remember stopping at lvl 60 to farm AV like a madman because my IRL roommate at the time made a deal with me if I got exaulted with the Frostwolf before reaching max level he would buy my epic riding. To this day Frosty is still my ground mount of choice.
One of the things that really impacted me when friends got me into WoW after TBC launched was leveling a troll, learning eventually their mounts were raptors, then seeing raptors around Razorhill. I played the RTS warcraft games in the 90s but something about there being dinosaurs made me want to see what else was in the game.
Unlocking my dreadsteed with my guild. Then we got our other lock her dreadsteed. Fun times.
Appreciate it, ive lost people in my life before, gotta be honest this is brutal, and he isnt gone yet, its just knowing …anyways ty
Soloing two horde players as a level 49 human warrior, one of like 30 something on the other in the 50s. Another memory was playing on a PTR thing with a friend during I want to say Burning Crusade. He rolled a Shaman and I rolled a Druid. We dueled to see how well Shaman did in damage.
Only thing I do was heal and he never could put a meaningful dent in my health. I think I got him to quit playing Shaman because of that.
At least in knowing you can prepare your heart for the inevitable. Might blunt the blow a bit.
One memory I can’t forget but I’m glad was changed, was waiting until server restarts in Vanilla to see how many HKs you got in PVP.
Back in the day right before pandaria released a GM showed up outside the gates of Orgrimmar on the Proudmoore server. He was changing forms into old gods and was giant, it was so much fun. I never forgot about that.
I remember getting the real chuck norris’s autograph in the barrens circa 2005
My Mage getting kicked out of Stratholme for refusing to sheep the undead mobs.
A guy getting his guild to spam trade that I was a ninja because he lost the roll on the Onyxia Drake.
True enough. Thank you
Being new to the game, walking into Stormwind, and hearing the music just blast! Always makes me smile
Getting ‘safety dance’ in Naxx in a 25 man.
Raiding with my mom and her guild when I was a kid. We all used Vent but I wasn’t allowed to talk because kids weren’t allowed in the guild. But little me usually outperformed them. Did BT and ICC with them and that was my raiding career until like MoP.
Joined the Velen server on the launch of BC. It was a brand new server with no transfers in for the first six months. Everyone starting at level 1 made it feel like a real community. Saw the same alliance toons attacking crossroads, raided the Stormwind auction house with only level 1 Tauren (ported into what is now the barbershop by our lock), kiting a world boss into Shatt. That six month period was the high point in game play for me.
Back in Vanilla. This rogue as her original nelf self; that first long run across the Wetlands from Menethil to Ironforge.
As a level 15, we had a higher level escort to keep the level 22-24 critters off us, but the trip at normal foot speed was long and kind of scary.
I made sure to pay it back later on by doing escort runs for others.
That reminds me of my first raid with the guild I was in in WOTLK right after joining. We were in Obsidian sanctum killing trash and a few people had to afk so we were sitting around. I got bored waiting and started running around in circles and accidentally ran straight into a pack of mobs. Fortunately there were enough people there to deal with them. Our guild was pretty relaxed and I had a few friends in it so it was more something we laughed about after it happened.
Another thing I remember, in vanilla I was outside the IF gates on another Paladin I played and a mage 10 levels higher than me started a dual with me. I’m pretty sure he thought he was going to demolish me but I actually won the dual quite easily. I was in my low 20s and had Verigan’s fist which at my level was like having an epic weapon and it also wasn’t my first time playing a Paladin so I’m pretty sure that helped
Another one from classic, when I first rolled on classic there where no mobs to farm up, so a mage and I decided instead what we would do is run from the Undead starting area all the way down to Stranglethorne Vale and pick up every flight path along the way…the amount of times we died, but it was fun as hell to finish the run and then hearth back to the starting zone with all the flight paths on the continent unlocked.
