I’m using this from now on…
My very first Lich King kill.
Okay, it was normal
I was tanking
I had been awake 36 hours straight
As a “newer” player (I joined late Wrath) I just felt so accomplished to have cleared the raid
Another fond memory is catching the WoW commercials and sponsorship on television. Verne Troyer as a gnome mage, Ozzy Osborne as an undead warlock, and William Shatner as a tauren shaman. Also, the red/blue Mountain Dew. Those were the good days.
back in mop when more of my friends played and constantly i did a dungeon with 1 of them and we got into a group with 2 other people who were friends. they started do be pricks to us and talk smack so me and my friend started to talk smack to them. it was hilarious because it got so bad for them that they had nothing left to say.
in the end we finished the dungeon went our seperate ways and that was it but it was good fun. rarely we get into groups where people are mature enough to handle what they dish out and not quick to vote kick and all that bs.
Killing Vael the first time.
you forgot mrT
arguably the coolest of them all heh
Ah yeah! The night elf mohawk! That was a great one.
In wrath I reconnected with a lot of players from old Vanilla guild in a new guild they formed called Lets Go Burgling, they were pretty competitive, probably top 5-10% of guilds. They let me tryout as a Paladin tank in ICC25, offtanking with a druid tank. My first run through ICC25 when it was still only a few weeks old I got over 10 pieces of gear because no one could roll against me, and for a few weeks I was one of the top geared Paladin tanks on the server.
Fast forward to Vault of Archavon. The new fire boss is released, tanks are supposed to taunt, i dunno, every 4-5 stacks or something. The off tank dies almost immediately. I was so geared for that brand new fight that i tanked the boss to - just guessing here - like 50 stacks +, or something crazy, way, WAY past the amount of stacks to switch and we downed it. While most of the stress was on the healers, people were pretty impressed that I did that and that was a really cool feeling. One of my best memories.
when i first started playing in around the end of bfa, i chose demon hunter as the class i wanted to play-
when i was levelling in legion doing the class hall stuff, i’d get really upset whenever i had to do a quest that made me wait; i was very impatient. i eventually left dalaran and explored some more stuff- when i wanted to go back, i was really confused and couldn’t for a good 2 hours lol
i’d go to wotlk dalaran and look for the class hall, it was so frustrating- eventually i found myself in azsuna only to realize i couldnt fly to dalaran and also didnt have a flight path, i dont know what i was doing considering you have a dalaran hearthstone but- i was new lol
another memory i’ll never forget is exploring the broken isles and seeing suramar for the first time- i was so amazed and thought the npcs looked so cool (now half of my characters are nightborne lol
The day it all started, my first ever toon. I was on the character screen and my first thought was, “OMG I CAN BE A ZOMBIE?!” and then i picked my class. I saw warlock and my eyes lit up. I remember thinking “i can be a zombie, WHO SUMMONS DEMONS?!” I named em Deathnote after the anime and i was running around with my little imp buddy. Everything was amazing all the sights. I remember making it to Brill and thinking it was so cool. Then i met the lady who would become my favorite character in WoW. My eyes lit up and i was like “woah whos this zombie girl she looks so cool!” The banshee queen was so cool to me as a kid. Funny to think i started off saying id never touch WoW and then my cousin got me into it.
First LBRS I remember the night, the toon, the enjoyment. Yup good times
- Killing Nefarian with my guild.
- Killing Raszageth with my guild.
Finally beating Kruul and getting my Flail.
My earliest memories from Vanilla are on a Human Mage which no longer exists.
- AoE farming Murlocs after hearing that gavethe best XP
- Having a Hunter friend 6 or 8 levels higher run with me to Booty Bay so we could go explore the other continent
- Farming Blackfathom Depths to get the wand which was “insane” DPS
- Watching him emote his way to a Horde player letting him tame Echeyakee
Then we rolled Horde and it was jumping off a boat or airship to make the run to Deadmines shorter.
And many many more !!
I have many…
This was the first character I ever created and he’s been my main a majority of my play time. When I first got the game installed I managed to get the camera angle stuck viewing the top of my characters head and it took me several minutes of looking through menus and messing with the controls to figure out how to move the camera angle.
My first time reaching Goldshire and the Winter Veil NPC’s were there. I thought it was the coolest thing since it was the first time I had ever seen holiday specific NPC’s in a game.
While leveling I met a very nice player who realized I was new to the game and traded me several silk bags to help.
Used to stop leveling when I got to the max level for each pvp bracket and I would spend a few weeks doing just battlegrounds before finally levelling. I remember saving the flag carrier with Lay on Hands right before they died in a WSG and they proceeded to make it across the map and cap the flag. I felt like a real BG hero after that game.
Killing Ragnaros for the first time. Most of the raid team was dead and I was dead face down in a river of lava watching it happen but we got him!
I saw a few people above mention killing the Lich King on 10 man normal. My guild did that by extending the raid lockout for weeks until we finally defeated the LK. It took was my first time killing the end of expansion boss. After that we went on to clear Ruby Sanctum as well but that was a lot easier.
The first night of Legion leveling with a lot of my guild all in Discord leveling. I think that was my favorite expansion launch.
I have some truly random memories of my time playing.
My first death ever, tried to fight a neutral owl that was lvl 6 and it beat me, on a hunter. Another death, falling off teldrassil, and then falling off again as a ghost. Had to make a ticket but they fixed me up in like less than 30 mins. This was all way back in BC
I have a couple great pvp memories - first being a middle 40s something priest in wotlk and a lone horde had invaded ironforge and managed to fall into the big lava pit, I stood there hitting smite untill i landed a blow and moments later the honor kill achieve popped. He had finally died to the lava damage and it gave me the credit. My fave though has to be also wotlk on my shammy. Joined a late stage AV match, horde were winning, they were farming us at our base for HK’s. Then i started healing. Only healer on the team. Then we drew level, then we pushed them back and in the end won the match and guess who was top heals. Never forgetting that!
Loved raiding kara on my mage in BC, that and healing ICC on the shammy are my best pve memories.
Finally, 1 last thing that stands out to this day. So i went from BC into wotlk moderately well known, mostly from my mage but there was this shammy who was like “ohh lets be friends for ever” basically untill wotlk launches and they managed to level just that bit faster. Sure enough they are doing heroics and are like “You’re not geared enough to be my friend”. The expansion carries on i never did 25m, i missed most of the mid expansion raids then ICC comes along and i raid the heck out of that place, get super geared, am doing some arenas and smashing BG’s and left that person so far behind. Never spoke to them again, dont even know or care if they still play. The moment they exposed themselves to me I knew i wanted nothing of them. Just a random final random memory. Some people even 12+ years ago were so shallow
Forget which expansion but was one when frost mage had that clunky crystal thing we had to put down to do dmg? In Bg I put it down at enemy base and solo killed 4 melee with it. Dropped it out of invis into crowd, orbed and ice lance spammed into it dropped all 4 melee. ![]()

I remember the Night Elf starting area from WotLK, felt so huge and amazing at the time.
lag running into princess huhuran and wiping the raid whilst on trial for a really good guild…i got gkicked a few minutes later…being unable to use vent didn’t help my case i guess…which i still think is unfair! ![]()
My first day playing, running down the Gold Road in the Barrens screaming like the little girl I no longer was as I was chased by a hyena. It was a lesson in how long things keep chasing you in this game. Sometimes excessively so…
