Remember when World of Warcraft was a video game you could escape to? One filled with Fantasy and exploration, was a great game to shed stress and have fun with your friends ?
I don’t know what happened but that’s all gone for me now, now WoW feels like a part time job. It feels like if I don’t log on for a day I fall behind a week in comparison to my friends, but that’s not even the worst part. I dread loggin on, can you imagine you ever feeling this way towards a video game ? Usually I kill to get out of my full time real adult job to get home and play games so I can lose some stress and be happy. I can’t say I feel that way about WoW, it’s just “oh man I havent done my Torghast this week yet” or “Damn I forgot to grind for Anima on my rogue”. I dread it, it sucks and it’s killing the game for me.
What the hell happened to WoW? And for the record I love this game, I’ve been playing it for 15 years and it was a huge part of my childhood growing up. What the hell is happening?
If you really want to know what happened, what changed with WoW, I’ll tell you. YOU changed. YOU have other things vying for your time and attention. YOUR tastes have changed. Maybe WoW isn’t for you anymore, nothing wrong with that. Take a break and come back to it when you have the desire to do so.
If you don’t do the content you don’t get loot, so you can’t just “skip it”.
RNG is RNG sure but I don’t remember running a raid in BC and getting zero loot out of 7 bosses like you do now. Personal loot sucks and no one likes it.
If you don’t log on for a week you’re behind anyone who did, rep wise, anima wise, covenant campaign literally everything. What do you mean ?
I was about to say “anima doesn’t affect player power so, no biggie really” and “you can do the bare minimum in torghast and still eventually get your legendaries”
— But you also mentioned “in comparison to [your] friends”… which is a legit point. I do so hate being “carried” in other games I play by my buddies who play a lot more than I do, because it kind of feels like cheating lol. I could do nothing and they’d just plow through my level’s content.
In our guild though, we’ve been running lower stuff to power-gear our guildies who were a bit behind and it seems to be working well. The only real major setback is the RNG nature of the renown catch up. Even torghast, we’ll group up and get them their ash so they can at least get a legendary to face more challenging content.
I’ll say a lot of it “feels” like a chore, but it often isn’t, depending on what you want to do.
Renown: literally only 2 quests now per week instead of 3 (which both sucks and is a good thing)
Anima: more or less unrelated to play progress beyond a few specific things
I’ve practically forgotten about callings because WQs are awful. I’ll do the purple ones for a chance at 200ilvl conduits.
Everything else is really just up to you. If your buddies are blasting ahead of you… then that’s just a difference in lifestyle it seems.
It’s just a game were half the people just push real world problems into the game, go look at alot the posts here. the word fun and online video games don’t really fit well together anymore. no matter what blizz does half the people left playing wow will make sure and try to suck any fun you still have playing this game.
You absolutely can. You don’t need the M+ loot. You can make a conscious choice to do or not do any content in this game. If it’s not fun, you absolutely do not have to do it. You are making the choice to do content you don’t like. No one else.
It’s always been a possibility. Someone in your group is getting loot every single time you kill a boss. Also I like personal loot, no more loot drama
Behind who or what?
Rep is meaningless for player power, anima is mostly meaningless for player power, covenant campaign is already over.
