BfA may mostly be over, but SL hasn’t really started yet either. at least they are taking extra time on it. keep the faith, but keep it with a grain of salt. things won’t ever truly be balanced in the game.
We didn’t make it bro, we died fighting C’thun… this is all just an illusion while we are brainwashed and doing his bidding… The end of BFA was just N’zoth playing with C’s toys… Yogg was snoring too loud back in Wrath so thats why we imagined him… Why do we always win? C’thun is playing hero in his dollhouse… You may ask why? Mommy Elune is too busy to play with C’thun, why else do we make her out to be some sort of God?

At what cost? I lost an arm and a leg and my brother lost his whole body. 
All jokes aside, I want to believe that Blizzard will do well and to polish whatever needs to be done for Shadowlands.

Blizzard has had a fairly consistent record since Wrath of the Lich King.
WotLK: Great expansion
Cataclysm: Meh expansion
MoP: Great expansion
WoD: Meh expansion
Legion: Great expansion
BfA: Dogs*** expansion
If Shadowlands is bad, they’re not only breaking their pattern but they’ll need to explain how they released two trash fire expansions back to back.

That really depends on the content you played. As a PvPer most expansions (but raiding with US top 10s in Wrath):
BC: terrible, slightly better than vanilla.
WotLK: best PvE game has ever seen, PvP OK. Zones great.
Cata: Great PvP, last good class design/balance/talent tree. Cool and unique zones.
MoP: Decent PvP, boring PvE, boring zones (unless you love pandas and Asia).
WoD: Great PvP, mediocre zones, lack of content. Classes balanced. Anti social.
Legion: artifact weapons killed alts. DH ruined PvP balance (still fun, esp. if you played one). PvE mediocre. Zones sucked.
BfA: necklace and azerite gear killed gearing and alts, PvP sucked because progression was linked to PvE and getting traits, PvE sucked even more, beautiful alliance zones, terrible horde zones, no content. Corruption was terrible.
So, I’m optimistic because BfA was truly garbage, but people hate on cata and WoD, when I think those two had great “bones” but maybe a lack of content. By contrast Legion had lots of dungeons you could run a million times but the game felt flat and gameplay unrefined.
Here’s to hoping SL gets the basics right AND has some memorable content.

If anything its WoD 2.0 as in WoD was trying to recreate BC. SL is hoping to be the next Wotlk.
