good points on both sides of this conversation. but not worth having a scuffle over it
In other news I got to pet a fluffy doggo today. It was very soothing
Was this IRL or in game?
IRL. One of the professors in the education building brought his dog to work. She was a very good girl.
A DOG?!?
/gasp
I just wish I knew if the trust feature only applies to one avatar or all of them. I am a ADHD poster Iāll swap avatars so quick and be using all these different names, but if only some get trusted levels, thatās somethings I gotta work on. Raveintis here is my poster for helping people with lore, but he has very little rp roles often. Will he get a higher trust or the active rp avatars I use?
I have no idea, who knows? That makes me nervous too >.<
Since Iām a former sysadmin of a dead forum Iāll weigh in with my Discourse Expert hat on.
From the technical side of things, each WoW character appears to be considered as a separate user. So provided you donāt get reported for silly things and you keep your posts of high quality, then youāll probably gain more trust on your RP toons and your lore toon will suffer from a lower trust level. I do not like this approach at all. The admins here need to change the configs so that all toons on an account link back to a central system that determines the trust level. Hopefully they have plans for thisā¦
I believe trust levels are locked to the specific avatar right now, and are not accountwide. That may change in the future.
You are correct. Discourse is flexible enough that your WoW account can be used to determine the trust level of all your toons instead of the one that does the majority of the posting.
On the forum I was the admin of, we linked everything back to a central account and had the players designate a MAIN character that all posts would occur under.
/me sips cold coffee
āAh dangitā¦I left it out again.ā
/me looks at the clock and sees 15 minutes left
/sigh
/me blinks and looks at the clock again.
āItās go time!ā
/me tosses the cup of cold coffee across the room into the recycling, miraculously not spilling a drop and leaves a cartoonish trail of smoke behind while exiting the room posthaste. The door swings on its hinges and the swivel chair (that wasnāt there previously) spins helplessly.
I guess Iāll manage it, but it will be interesting on who I post on the most naturally. I can say ingame Iām always playing rave, Iāve been a warlock forever. Role playing warlocks are a bit harder, we usually are not that sociable. Infact if I were to think of Raveintisās personality itself, he is quite reserved and willing to watch rather than become involved.
Maybe itās just me, but I can feel the personality of each character I post as, their personality do Infact determine how and where I post most of the time.
Iām fairly certain theyāll make a few tweaks to the forums after they get more data in the next few weeks. Ironing out the bugs that crop up and whatnot.
does likes push you into the next trust level?
Itās not just you, for me each of my characters are different. Where I post How they act and react all depend on the character Iām posting on. Take Jericha, she will not be posting anywhere accept in the IC and OOC RP threads unless she is given permission by Lord Salkeen.
To a extent I believe, I found a great guide from a player from overwatch.
Iām sure Jericha and Salkeen may post in these forums more once their war campaign comes to a victorious end.
For those still confused on Trust Levels and Syntax, this link should prove useful.
Itās not that Jericha cannot post in the forums, Itās that she will not post with out Lord Salkeenās permission. When It comes to Jericha, Iām like always on RP mode when Iām on her. RP wise Jericha would not do anything without Salkeenās permission, except fleeing from Isaik. That however is an uncontrolled response from her.
Itās functional, but I wouldnāt mind if a block/ignore option came back.
Also miss being able to check folks armory easily
For reasons previously outlined, itās probably not going to happen. However it would be amazing if Blizzard took it upon themselves to customize the forum software to allow ignoring and blocking people.
