We're the only class

That has bloated talent trees, arent we? Everytime i look at a random classes tree, its all 1 pointers, and they can select tons of end caps.

Why are we getting treated so badly?

So I see a lot of people talk about bloated talent trees but no one ever does a direct comparison so I just decided to tally up how big every classes and specs talent trees really are. Note none of this takes into account situations in which you would need to spend 2 points to progress to the bottom on the trees when other classes might be able to bypass a 2 point node and save points for later down.

The biggest thing that hit me here is that the priest class tree is the largest and it offers easily the worst choices of any class out there with dead and subpar talents like Holy Nova, a talent to buff said useless holy nova, the now incredibly weak Mass Dispel, and Shackle Undead. Meanwhile the Shaman gets PCT, Cap totem, Healing Stream, Windrush totem, their freaking Earth Elemental.

There is really no comparison the Priest class tree is easily the worst designed tree in the whole freaking game and it shows they had absolutely no concept of what to do with priest when designing it.

Holy Nova is great if you’re playing Oracle Disc. With 220ilvl at full charge, total healing including atonement is around 250k healing per person + 160k dmg per enemy non crit. If I hit 5 friends and 5 enemies thats 1.25mil healing and 800k dmg, + crit chance. Pretty sweet for an instant cast 20 sec cd.

But yea the tree is pretty bloated :upside_down_face:

Everything is broken at low levels, then you actually get to end game and realize it’s only use is to AoE farm old raids.

I agree with you here. The class design is absolute garbage. This should not have passed QA and this should not have passed any PMs gaze. The fact that the priest class was released in such a sad state really speaks to how far blizzard has fallen in terms of quality control and product management.

And the fact that it has been absolute silence just compounds the issue.

We have incredibly bloated talent trees… Stuffed with spells that should be baseline… And just completely uninspiring and talent and augments.

I waste so many points for CoH or PoH to just be meh… because I need to get downtree.

The entire class needs a complete rework. I don’t even play my priest anymore… This is the first week I’ve gone since I’ve come back that I haven’t even bothered to login for an entire week. I’m having way more fun on my frost mage… And my balanced Dru. It seems like they will be a blast as well.

But I want to play a holy priest. That is the class I love the most.

But there’s just no joy in playing it. Especially in PVP where we are now the ‘wheelchair class’ because we have zero mobility (Feather’s don’t count; they’re pathetic) and no knockbacks or escape mechanics worth note.

And just watching the devs… Just… Be silent… Ignoring us… Not even a crumb in the patch notes… It just feels so intentional. How else can we view it? And honestly? They’ve had multiple expansions to fix the priest class and they clearly just haven’t.

I would be fired if I treated my clients this way. It’s obviously not on their little road map. It’s obviously not something they care about. It’s obvious that they just don’t want to fix us. I’m just waiting for a dev to pull what they did with Warlocks back in the day and just say ‘we’d prefer it if you didn’t play Holy.’

The priest tree will be well designed when shadow gains a meaningful healing spell by taking PoM and renew.

I played one month of TWW and quit because I chose Shadow Priest (mostly because I was hoping something cool would happen with Xal’atath which didn’t, at least not yet) but suffered all the consequences of the worst class design I have ever experienced in the 22 years I have been playing MMOs. I should withdraw my sub but I want to tough it out for the 20th anniversary. I do like Demo Warlock, but I put all my chips on S Priest, because thematically that’s what I want to play.

This could have been more tolerable if we didn’t know they know how bad priest is, or they addressed it BEFORE the Shaman and Hunter reworks. That was the straw that made me quit playing.

To be fair, this is a more recent development. Even up to Season 4 DF.

A lot of classes were full of weird 2 pointers and blockers. Over time they’ve been faded out with tree reworks.

Shaman, in particular was AWFUL in Dragonflight. Resto had to spend like 20 points in their first tier because of a bunch of random 2 pointers that were at the top for some reason.

Priest needs one for sure, but it’s not like they’ve been sitting for years as the only class with issues. If anything, TWW fixed a ton of class talent tree problems (and for some created totally new problems - despite the 2 pointers mostly going away) and just didn’t fix priests.

i legit stopped with shaman bc it has
like 79 gazillion totems lol

The class tree problems are also emblematic of Priests being stuck in the classic stone age in terms of utility, displacements, and the interrupt. The joke tree is just a reminder of how this class is being intentionally left behind.

When I play my DH, I legit feel like I’m playing a different game. The movement tied into the class kit is smooth. Planting and casting as a priest is just a relic of 2005.

Pretty much same experience when I’m on my DH as well. It’s absolute freedom and ease of use in doing whatever I feel like I want to do when I want to do it.

However, I will say doing time walking on my Priest with Voidweaver and dragonflight Season two and three 2 sets + Dragonwrath + Heart of Azeroth Artifact necklace with essences unlocked + MoP legendary cloak + Haste and Critical Strike proc Trinkets = incredibly fun lol.

I easily 4x the damage of most players and 2x the damage of similar geared players with previous expansions best hits items.

Now I worry that will all come to an end with the changes to time walking :frowning:

It blows my mind seeing how like weird of a place priest is in right now. I haven’t played for like 2-3 weeks. Personal stuff, WoW wasn’t hitting the same and even though I was loving Oracle Disc in PvP and playing Void in PvE. Just kinda taking my time to slowly grind out stuff. Now coming back seeing this patch, watching some PvE and PvP streams I’m like stuck unsure what to play.

Do I switch to the Pally I leveled to 80 during the early access with no gear? Pallies look to be broken, MW has that insane new Jade Lightning talent that looks fun, and Shaman are still just Shaman with all the utility in the world. I hate Evoker, and Druid has similar problems with a awful class tree.

Pally/Druid were the 2 healers I used to play the most and MW after that, but I wanted to give Disc a go since in 20 years of WoW I only levelled a priest to 50 once during Vanilla. I was having a blast more in PvP as an Oracle then PvE as voidweaver (mostly for the dps I was bringing while healing) but after this patch today I feel so deflated.

I want to play this Priest, I was loving this Priest but until the next big balance patch it feels like what’s the point? I’d be so much better off just playing Pally for both PvE/PvP but I’m just kinda bored of that class fantasy. During my break from WoW I was debating letting my sub lapse after just farming the event, but you know was a bit hyped thanks to friends to play today but even my motivation to farm the event is like nil.

I know the sky isn’t falling, I know I can still play the class, enjoy the game but the feeling of just being like ignored sucks. Like has there really been any balance changes to Disc/Holy yet? Only thing I remember was nerfing Oracle Shields in PvP.

So it’s not just our imagination. Most classes have about 90-95 talents total and holy priest has 105. And most of them have this feeling of “we are not going to allow this to be good.”
