Judging what I’m hearing/seeing Ion’s interview with Asmongold atm is Ion is basically trying tell why we should be OK with not having wpvp planned events and new BG’s.
Giving how bland SL has been with nothing new of the above I am beyond saddened to hear this is their ongoing plan with DF.
Not only that, I find it extremely condescending Ion trying to tell us (me) how to feel that his pvp vision is the best.
I’m paraphrasing because it’s currently live but in regards to no new BG’s Ion said “we already have a lot in current rotation so adding more wont make much of a noticeable difference”.
In regards to WPVP he said something like “organic pvp is always funner than a planned event”. While that may be true for a lot of players, I loved events like Battle for Naz’jatar (not the sharding/lag issues) and even Hellfire pvp that still has some kind of main objective.
Maybe some people like getting randomly ganked while picking herbs and that’s the end of it for them to fulfill their wpvp desires.
Honestly, so many things (excuses) I hear Blizz make about DF for things myself or other players want is "that’s our plan longterm". WTF isn’t the plan longterm then, aside from the apparently alt-friendly acnt-wide stuff at launch?
There is already no 9.3 in SL which you’d think gives them more time to make DF great and add a bunch of new stuff.
Again, he keeps saying “that’s our plan longterm”. Are they really expecting players to just buy right away and keep paying/playing each patch hoping they finally add things players want, especially pvp players?
I’m sorry, but Shadowlands is the absolute worst xpac to date when it comes to pvp engagement and gearing etc…it’s been the least enjoyable for pvp for myself at least. And I cant believe I am saying that looking back on BfA I enjoyed that xpac more than SL for PvP. At least BFA had pvp assaults and Naz’tar large-scale events.
Sorry for the rant but I despise Blizz/Ion’s response of basically “just wait and see longterm if we add this”.
Why is it so hard to commit to a new BG and/or world events? This is nothing new or controversial for an xpac.
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong on something or wants to add something I missed Ion say, but the gist of it really comes off as “don’t expect much new in the pvp dept”.
PvP is in such a bad state as is.

Well that’s not a suprise, seeing as how Ion just raid logs. See new BGs or world events could take away from the correct way to play which in his mind is raid logging.
I agree that he’s completely disconnected from that area of the game and completely clueless, and holinka is imo not much better, but we are at least getting the gearing system we thought we were getting for SL in DF and thats a huge win, even though it might be coming too late to save pvp participation. Possibly not having glad mounts in DF too is a bit questionable if they make it just armour plates to add to your dragonflying minigame mount, to be seen if that goes forward and what the reception of that will be
I don’t personally feel we need more bgs. Warsong and ab are still my favourite and i’ve been playing them since i started in BC. Meanwhile their two latest bgs are the ones i hate the most. Only thing i’d like to see is Tol Barad being added to epics and some form of halaa/hellfire peninsula wpvp event would have been cool

I don’t PVP but will say…
He PROBABLY used some words that secretly mean;
''We don’t have time to do one… we have our focus elsewhere where our statistics is showing that people want attention to… ‘’
I think they have a team to assess priorities or Ion and his fellow senior developers honestly don’t see a reason to do another BG
Their motto for DF seems to be lots of old content/ideas being rehashed/reused outside of the new race/class, not to mention ripping off mount systems from GW2.
Yawn.

It’s “for ‘me’ at least”. You are misusing “myself”. It is not interchangeable with and is not the “witty” version of “me”. They’re different words with different meanings.
PvP isn’t the primary focus of WoW or any MMO tbh
There are plenty of frequently updated pvp games out there

You can thank those tryhard sweat gladiators for ruining PVP by lowering their score to sell carries against players with far lower skill level thus driving them away, I don’t care at ALL about PVP and hope blizzard doesn’t waste any more time with development outside Solo stuff because that’s what those tryhards deserve.

Thanks the gods…I agree, but solo Q and instanced PvP can get stale and is very rigid and strict. WoW is an MMO and wpvp and events needs to be attractive as a side/fun option. I know a lot of PvE players would sign up warmode for Naz’jatar or do assaults in BFA.
I cant think of anytime in SL I even turned on warmode, apart from getting one of the new seasonal trinkets.
I hope this is not true. I’ve only gotten up to 2-2.1K so never gotten a glad mount, but this would suck for elite high end pvp players. Especially mount collectors.
For sure. I only spammed comp stomp because I have fond memories of AB, but still, things get stale.
Take a game like PoE, while it’s a hack 'n slash I know, the devs manage to introduce a completely new league mechanic every 3 months, and the vast majority of previous leagues go core. Nothing ever gets stale in POE. Again, comparing an MMO to ARPG is apples to oranges, I know. But Blizzard is a huge multi-billion $$$ company…
I can think of many many more who wouldn’t.
World PVP is dying or even dead to the extent that only a very small dedicated few do it
Every bg they’ve added post Gilneas is bad anyways. Remove IoC pls
Ya I really don’t enjoy Seething Shore…unless we’re winning it…
Idk why SotA had to go. I liked that one a lot, but that’s probably because I enjoy WG a lot as well.

The lack of BG maps is unacceptable. It’s not a dungeon, and it’s not balancing content. PVP balance isn’t really effected by a new map. A new BG map is a marginal cost in both time and labor.
Design half a map. Then mirror it. Done.
You’ll notice that this isn’t good design, but at least it would be a new map. It’s not hard, and they refuse to do it which says more than any of these interviews do about the subject.
literally stop giving pvp irrelevant content like new arenas and battlegrounds and such and instead give it actual tuning and adjustments.
seething shore is an awful battleground. focus resources into fixing it.
mugumbala is a horrendous arena. focus resources into fixing it.
tired of pvp getting content bloat when all it needs is to be fixed via tuning and adjustments.
