Been reading a lot on the forums about people wanting to change to Drac’thyr for the racial interrupts. Seems to be a bit controversial.
In general, Retail has essentially lost the plot in regards to class flavor. Remember how priests (and shamans) used to be the spiritual leaders and representatives for their communities? What happened to that flavor?
More demonstrably;
Yes, lore-wise, I understand that the Light can be experienced by anyone so long as they have enough zeal. However…
Why does a troll priest have angelic wings? You’d think they would have some kind of Coatl like wings, like a Wing Serpent. Same for Zandalari.
Why does a Draenei have angelic wings? You’d think they would have some kind of shard-like appendage or something resembling a Naaru.
I can go on and on about the homogenization of class aesthetics, especially in regards to how human / “Holy Light” human beliefs are across Priest as a whole. Getting back onto topic though: Drac’thyr will be BiS priest race since they will have some mobility and also racial interrupts.
If it was me, I’d incentivize people to stick to their preferred race by bringing back priest racials. Given the nature of the retail playerbase though… they would definitely have to be balanced a bit better.
I haven’t really delved deeper in regards to mechanics but I figured this would be somewhat of a fair trade off and also restoring class flavor so that way priests aren’t just different looking parishioners of the Cathedral of Light.
