Is that baby dwarf prince FINALLY out of his crib?

Also… is Tess Greymane married?

Also did they kick the Gnomes out of Ironforge?

Five years! We better have had some progress.

The wound is going to open up again at the start of Dragonflight.
Night Elves don’t get a rest.

Oh no auntie Jaina is grandma Jaina now…

sounds about right for a sargeras flip to good guy, top tier blizz writing and all

300 years would have been better

Reasonable. Our heroes need a freaking break.

Altho I do feel bad for Rosenivy now in my head lol. Before I found out about this timeskip I figured “Eh they’re gonna be sad when they come back because they miss being soulbound with Draven but it shouldn’t be that long until he’s asked to join with a party to research the dragon isles.”

WELP. Sorry Rosey you gonna be depressed for way longer now lol

It just feels weird to RP around?

My characters don’t acknowledge Shadowlands nor it’s events. Do I just age all my characters 3 years? That’s a healthy amount of backstory to write…

I’m not a fan of it myself.

Not long enough, should have been about 100 years. Everyone returns back to an old god corrupted Azeroth, where the Aspects returned to the Dragon Isles as a last bastion to stand against the corruption.

Should a be a 3 year skip…the other way.

we wake up patrick duffy (as Bobby Ewing) is coming out of the shower…

It was a dream time. and oddly enough…this ending would have made as much sense as what we got. that is to say…not at all. But I liked Bobby…so it be okay.

Enough for the setting. Not for the rest of the game. The setting has been hidden and untouched for a long time, the rest of Azeroth still has her slew of problems still. Broken stories, swords, faction hierarchy turmoil. Recovery.

Not confident we can be influenced to just pretend none of these things are still at the forefront of everything outside of dragonflight.

Actually, no.
One year between them.

And for the record, things have apparently been reconned at some point. Classic was originally two years, Wrath>Cata was originally a three year skip. Those are the two biggest ones.

Following the apparent retcon, Classic was a single year, and every single expansion was about one year. Factor in time in between and MAYBE we’ve gotten about six months or so altogether where we haven’t been fighting some major threat on Azeroth.

Seriously, on the updated timeline Classic was 25 ADP. Shadowlands started in 35 ADP.

I find it exceptionally hard to believe that we have dealt with in order:

  • Classic (25 ADP)

Various small scale threats
Molten Core
Nefarian
The skirmishes in Warsong Gulch/Alterac Valley
The Rise of the Blood God
The Dragons of Nightmare
Ahn’Qiraj
Naxxramas and the First Scourge Invasion

  • Burning Crusade (26 ADP)

The reopening of the Dark Portal
Illidan
Zul’Aman
A potential Legion invasion at The Sunwell

  • Wrath of the Lich King (27 ADP)

The return of Arthas and the Second Scourge Invasion
The Northrend Campaign
The Nexus War
The Battle of Wintergrasp
The first encounters with the Infinite Dragonflight
Ulduar
The raid on Icecrown

  • Cataclysm (28 ADP)

The Shattering/Return of Deathwing
The Battle of Gilneas
The Firelands
The Hour of Twilight (29 ADP)
Battle of Theramore

  • Mists of Pandaria (30 ADP)

Anduin going missing
The events of Landfall
The Thunder King
The skirmish at Deepwind Gorge
The Timeless Isle
The Siege of Orgrimmar
The events of Warcrimes (31 ADP)

  • Warlords of Draenor (31 ADP Main/-2 BDP Alternate)

The Iron Horde Invasion (honestly, it’s WoD, not much to say)

  • Legion (32 ADP)

The Broken Shore and the deaths of Varian, Vol’jin, and Tirion
The Third Legion Invasion
All the various class hall campaigns
The Deaths of Chromie
The Argus Campaign and the imprisonment of Sargeras

  • Battle for Azeroth (33 ADP)

Events of Before the Storm
The Burning of Teldrassil/start of the Fourth War
Battle of Lordaeron
Battle of Stromgarde
Uldir
Return to Draenor/Mag’har Recruitment (28 ADP Alternate)
^ Don’t think for a moment this isn’t coming into play later
Battle of Darkshore
Battle of Dazar’alor
Rise of Azshara
N’Zoth

  • Shadowlands (35 ADP)

Events of Shadows Rising
Death Rising/Third Scourge Invasion
The Covenant Campaigns
Multiple trips to Torghast to rescue Jaina, Baine, and Thrall
Castle Nathria
Chains of Domination
The return of the Nathrezim
The Sanctum of Domination
Eternity’s End
The forging of the Crown of Wills
The assault on the Sepulcher

All in all? While overall wars and conflicts seem to be short, Azeroth has damn near been in a constant state of war for ten years, and I’m sure the people really don’t make much of a distinction between one war and the next with how frequent the fighting has been.

I find it ridiculous that so much could have happened in such a short timeframe, but if that is where Blizzard wants to go with it, then so be it. My biggest gripe however is apparently doing a retcon on the Wrath>Cata timeskip, especially as that had implications on the world itself in minor ways that really don’t make sense anymore without the three year skip.

https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline

Hell, the very end of that page even mentions in the notes that several Cata era quests make mention of the fact that it’s supposed to be six years after the start of WoW at that point and that Blizzard themselves have clarified that Cataclysm was three years after Wrath!

Honestly, I feel like Steve Danuser needs to pass the torch along if he can’t keep track of where the timeline should be. We already know he’s too much of a Sylvanas simp, and he sure as hell isn’t Chris Metzen.

Realistically? You can figure out the exact details of BC/Wrath later, but I feel like the timeline needs to preserve what was originally written and widely accepted: WoW starts in 25 ADP and Cata starts in 31 ADP.

However, I think the ultimate issue is that Anduin was supposed to be 16/17 when he became king, hence the frequent mentions of “The Boy King.”

If they REALLY must preserve the idea that the start of Cata to the start of Legion is only four years, then so be it. What the hell do they really lose with Anduin becoming king at 20 instead of about 17 if they keep Cata where it SHOULD BE AND ORIGINALLY WAS on the timeline?

TLDR: The timeline is totally borked.

Danuser liked how Game of Thrones ended. Any credibility he had is shot.

That implies he had any to begin with.

I’m apparently thousands of years old. Five won’t even be noticable to this priestess lol

Mmm, the older ladies age like fine wine to me.

Has he ever messed up writing or retconning a bronze dragon though? Cause like altered timelines and all. Most of the originals kinda left bronze dragons up to interpretation, and still allowed chromie to be present in the plaguelands.

I remember hearing something when cata launched where technically the effects on azeroth, especially prepatch were supposed to be occuring throughout wotlk. Whereas most things from a player perspective are the cleanup after deathwing did his junk through the continents.

I would have liked to see the [REDACTED] in game, but having the world canonically having some R&R is good.

In my head cannon from Vanilla to now has been a hectic 6 months for my toon. Kidding… Or am I?

I don’t really think much about it to be honest.
