Went on live last night

I would have to agree with that.

yeah the game is too big. its so unwieldy they’ve had to add in shortcuts to accelerate everything to endgame. thusly why they probably need to make a classic+ expac for the retail folks, where its all re-simplified and shrunk back down to manageable levels.

Yes. Remember how distant lvl 60 felt during Vanilla when you were sitting at lvl 43 or 44? Just extend that whole leveling process out far, farther. You could stop to twink a battleground for a month or two, work up a raid group, eventually go through one portal or another to the next expansion world.

Yeah. But now double that lvl.

If current wow had the same lvling as vanilla. No one would ever make a toon.

Yay, you!

Why? Certainly the people who insist on being max level would be discouraged. But look at all the fun happening right now at lvl 30 beta. Most players will take months just to reach 60. Those same players could play forever in a ever slower leveling game.

Ehhhh. End game is when current wow is fun. Raiding with guildies and friends or simply joining pug guilds working on progression is fun.

I log in, I do missions in my Garrison, then log out… I hardly recognize the interface. It’s aweful.

Leveling is progression.

They need to make a level squish, because leveling in vanilla outside your main an a few alts will feel like a chore, now leveling to 120 with vanilla like rates… that’s how you kill your game.

And they would need to make all older content relevant again, although that would be difficult without forcing the players to do it, like how when naxx was out and TBC was already announced, people didn’t bother doing naxx since TBC green/blues were better.

There was a WotLK pserver that used the achievement system to grant access to the next raid tier. Completing naxx 10 granted you access to Ulduar 10 and so on, and maybe they could add trophy tokens that only certain bosses could drop, so you could redeem them to upgrade a lvl 60 weapon to lvl 70 power level.

I think the main thing here is that Vanilla made leveling a big part of the game. The journey to level cap was long, arduous, and rewarding. It was part of the fun of playing. It was like the first half of the game.

Live has the philosophy that the game is what happens at level cap. Leveling is just the time gate you must suffer in order to play the “real” game.

Here is the thing. If current wow took a year to get to 120. Everyone would be angry.

The forums would be in such an uproar it would make the beta boys in the classic forums look like saints.

I believe if each expansion kept the vanilla mentality, adding QoL perhaps, while speeding up older content it would be in a better state right now.

However, classic coming out opens up more for Blizz. Some people like slow, so open Classic, Tbc and Wrath. No transfers though. You start from lvl 1 on each.

I wouldn’t be angry. Most of us bound for Classic wouldn’t be angry. We would be overjoyed.

While I admit to being sensitive. I try and take things lightly as best I can. We are all different after all.

I was thinking retail might still be worth playing if you don’t take advantage of all the conveniences, but even then, it was just a far less interesting game.

No heirlooms? Mobs are still really weak and easy to kill.
No level 1 mount? Still get a mount at 20, Travel Form at 15, more flight paths, etc.
No money? Skills automatically learned.
Want to change specs? Totally free.
Leveled up? No talent point to spend. Next talent in 13 levels. Next spell in 27 levels.

No thanks.

Not for everyone.

People play the game for different reasons. Not everyone sees lvling as progression. Even in vanilla a lot of people only saw lvling as something you had to do in order to get to the real game.

Every person plays this game for a different reason.

Giant yellow arrows pointing to bodies? I have never seen this in game.

As for some of the other stuff like heirlooms and the chopper, you can choose not to use those. They aren’t mandatory.

My heirlooms consist of a couple of rings from the WoD shipyard and a neck I got somewhere and a few weapons from WoD SoO and one from an archaeology find. I don’t have the chopper. I don’t miss having any of these things because I enjoy the journey in WoW and I don’t care to race to the destination (end cap).

In Classic I will be the same way. I probably won’t hit 60 for a few months at the very least. I like exploring and leveling professions and generally just doing my own thing.

Its in the undead starting zone about 2 quests in. It’s not something you could miss if you run a toon for 5 minutes to see it.

I get that about herilooms etc. I wasnt necessarily complaining about them. Just stating I had way more fun in Classic. It was much more immersive for me.
