Welp, Skyfury is dead

To say there is absolutely no technology in the world is wrong, and a meme.

What they meant to say was… there is absolutely no technology in the world for their current structure and coding. There is absolutely no immediate fix. And they are correct. Anyone saying “lol just add more space” was 100% wrong and stupid.

There are solutions, just not fast or cheap ones.

TLDR version:
If they had started working on it for classic launch…and spent the money…we would have it.

Ah yes, another arm chair server infrastructure engineer.

Maybe not even… it may actually just not be possible in the SL client, or the entire way wow is built.

It may have to be like, a legit entire new game… we dont really know.

But to insinuate Nasa and billions of dollars couldnt create a game where 15k people can connect at the same time is laughable at best.

Can you address the rest?

As someone who just spent 3 days straight leveling on angerforge I’m beyond devastated. I don’t like to whine and threaten unsub but I’m so hurt by this that I can’t play wrath. Why let me think I can have a fresh advantage and put in the work only to let 70s pour in from another server before I hit cap? Game is a joke.

They’re just as much to blame, I guess. Idk the sooner people give up the notion that PVP servers are a thing, the better.

And the reason you can’t is because you know the comparison between Nostralius’ unsecure non-client side servers is not even remotely comparable to what Blizzard uses.

That’s because they were peaking around 13k active users at one point.

This is the cold, breaking-daylight truth, but most folks here aren’t ready for that conversation.

I heard from a friend of a friend about some internet site, I think it might be fantasyland -dot-com or something similar, and you can go there and click the big BUY NOW button on a fresh shiny server and it will show up at your house overnight, you just plug it in, and bam, you can run Wrath with unlimited concurrency and no issues.

I just want to know what the state of both servers are. I’m on Skyfury and it seems that between the queue coming down and only half the guildies being online as last week, the community is already starting to thin. Nice to be able to log in, but I’m hoping that this doesn’t devolve into the horde popping smoke and vanishing right away.

yeah idk, feels like it was starting to calm down…

I am quite worried the servers are going to die now.

But I thought you wanted everyone to xfer off skyfury so you and your guild wouldn’t have a que?

Got your wish lol

After? There is no after.

Dont think its a matter of if but a matter of when. And also when that day comes will a free transfer still be on the table. I don’t have strong feelings about decisions Blizz makes, but if they engineered a situation that leads directly to me being stuck on a dead or 99% alliance server and then ask me to PAY my way out, I think I will be upset. More than I was with the queues. I don’t like being manipulated into paying for services that I’d otherwise never pay for.

Local sockpuppet troll trying to say a packed realm is “dead.” This should have not gotten nearly 100 responses. Just flag and move on.
:axe:

Once again, Blizzard shows that the only tool in their toolbag is a hammer. They could have asked for a set amount of horde and a set amount of alliance, with the disclaimer of first come first served and a communicated target of those without guilds. Moreover, they could have limited the character xfer to characters under a certain level to not screw over the Angerforge guys who now feel like they rolled a fresh server only to have 70’s transfer in and take over.

Solving everything with the most hamfisted solutions leads to lose-lose situations. Even a tiny bit of finesse would have made this a win-win solution while showing that Blizz is listening to its community.
