Well... its been 16 years 2 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days

And I’m finally bored. I’m not renewing. the 35 anima grind has beaten me down. I tried taking “a break” but upon coming back I can’t muster up the “why” I should keep going. Fun has been in short supply. Getting gear used to be “fun” in a “im opening up this unwrapped present” type of way, but now its like I know what it is already, 35 anima… and the vault is “here is a piece of gear you already have”

I’ve always been an above average but not amazing PuG player. Never got glad, highest rating I’ve been is 1980 or so. Got a bunch of AoTC’s under my belt but not one cutting edge. Got a few 100 parses for my ilvl. Beaten a few glads 1v1.
Was a long ride, with its ups and downs. Without this game I probably would have committed suicide as stuff IRL hasn’t always been good for me. But now… I think it’s time to move on. I’m old and getting older. I was just starting college when this game came out… now… my parents are old enough where every year they are here is a blessing. I hope blizzard fixes itself… but one thing my long years have shown is… Greed destroys the Best of Us. Blizzard was once a great company, but Greed has taken it down, with the ashes of its IP smoldering in the background (don’t you have cellphones? Warcraft : Refunded) now comes the long swan song of WoW. Nothing could kill WoW, except itself.

Adieu my fellow gamers.

It really sucks to see someone who was so dedicated go. Hoping that you take a break and eventually come back, I did.

No matter what I hope things go well for you in your future endeavors.

How do you measure, measure a year?

In dungeons, in world quests, in Beegees
In raids nights with the guild
In valor, in reps, in honor, in strife

In five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure a year in the life?

How about WoW? How about WoW?
How about WoW? Measure in WoW

and 16 hours,

I’m tired, I think i’ll go home now.

God speed hopefully if you return things will be in a better place.

I don’t do the 35 anima grind and I don’t feel like I am missing out anything at all, am I?

it all depends on your goals to be honest. If it’s just to hang out then not really? The only reason to push mythics to get gear is so you can better perform at the role you do. But if all you care about is collectables or DiamondHanding the AH or proselytizing in Trade then it doesn’t matter. Yet if you are looking to climb in pvp, or in pve ladders, or get invited to pug raids, well you’re going to need the ilvl to do so. I suppose if one wanted to circumvent steps on gearing for the pve and pvp ladders, one could pay people to do so, but then after that… what is the point? I’ve had a few maxed out characters with optimal “Can’t improve this guy unless this drops in X mythic raid” and it’s pretty boring. Aman’Thul Trinkets come to mind.

It is probably my ignorance, I do M+ (Around 12-13 currently) but I never needed anima for any gear or anything. I always thought it was mostly for QoL stuff, like teleporting around your covenant zone or unlocking more chests etc… I just play without caring about it.

ahh. It must be nice for gear to consistently drop. Last 3 weeks all I’ve had from runs was stuff in my vault and 35 anima from the chest at the end of the run or downgrades from gear currently slotted.

The 35 anima grind is a tongue in cheek reference of the reward you’re supposed to get at the end of a mythic run, either gear or 35 anima. When you’ve ran over 100 dungeons and only got two pieces of loot that you can use, then its as if you’ve grinded for 35 anima, instead of gear. If you don’t have the gear you hit a wall in PuGs where it’s either your IO or your Ilvl that gets you invited. I’m at the point where my IO isn’t enough, nor is my gear, to compete with everyone else trying to run higher keys. So I grind “35 anima” in the hopes that another piece that is an upgrade will drop. But the last light of that hope flickered out today.

Same here OP.

We both started playing blizzards games all those years ago, but nowadays it just feels like blizzard is playing us.

Oh that was irony… I got it now… Sorry it took me a while

Glad this game has lifted you to new heights. It’s just sad the potential fall from grace we have here. I’ve been to the last 3 blizzcons and even without the pandemic here, I don’t think I’d go even if it was free ( in Anaheim) I’m sure those you crossed paths with will miss you, hopefully 9.2 can alleviate a lot of the communities frustrations including yours. Take care buddy.

Not really. I just do the 35x4 quests, sometimes the x3 ones if they are on the way lol… My covenant will be fully upgraded in 2 expansions

and i’m not renewing

Send me the gold.

Rest of post isn’t worth reading.

Why are you grinding anima via dungeons? It’s an optional currency that you could easily get from World Quests.

Hope you find happiness OP. I do agree, for me the xpac does not feel like WoW.
