I’m a casual, with decent gear for a level 25, got most of my runes (warlock). Unfortunately there’s just too much gate keeping going on trying to get into BFD raids and i have no patience for it. Getting denied from a BFD raid because i don’t have spell power gear, or every single rune, or i don’t know the fights. It’s just not fun and not worth my time. The games been out a little over a week for crying out loud. lol WTF
Ashenvale PVP is just running from boss to boss, it’s not even PVP. It’s a joke.
No lifers, min/maxers, have pretty much ruined the endgame experience. It’s not fun.

Have you tried making your own raid?

Agreed, getting 9 other people is insanely easy at almost any time of night, and even a complete zugbrain group can go 3/7 for some easy loot, and a mildly competent group can go 5/7 no problem

You’re not alone. They just defaulted to their retail philosophy on design. Most people have already quit. The guild that I’m in started at about 300 people and it’s down to 6-11 now.
All they had to do was make a classic season. They had a great idea with runes and building upon how classes play. But then they incorporated the theme park ride of gear progression that retail has, along with the DPS checks, thus parsing toxic culture. Yada yada yada. No point getting into it again.
But you’re not alone.

I can tell you the horde starter zones are incredibly empty compared to launch, and even compared to HC right before launch. There’s been a big dropoff and not many people making alts compared to how many started.
There would probably be a lot more interest in alts if the runes weren’t so annoying to acquire, particularly the rep/grizzby things. They’re even more annoying now than at launch since people might not come along for things like frozen murloc for an hour or whatever.

First, you get mad that people are gatekeeping you.
Then, you make your own raid and it goes terrible and you clear like 1/7 before it falls apart.
Then, you try again and clear like 4/7 before it falls apart.
…
Then you join the gate keeping crowd because you want to actually clear instead of only killing a couple bosses.

I do agree, the pvp in ashenvale isnt even pvp. It is a pve zerg event where little pvp takes place. Its retail version of pvp, the worst kind.
For real pvp i go gank in redridge and i recommend others do the same

Definitely 100% this. The biggest win of the season was the runes and the abilities. But the way to acquire them was not so good. All of them should just be open world and soloable. Just some fun things you do to go grab them. Nobody ever likes prerequisite grinds just to acquire baseline power for class mechanics. This should have been learned in shadowlands.

Not at all. Much less of it. But if you didn’t want to deal with any of it at all you could just gear up by pugging PvP. A very relaxed way to do it. There’s nothing like that here though. It’s just retail-like catering to raid logging dads who would cry FOMO if a PVP gear progression system was actually introduced. We wouldn’t want to upset the precious raiders now would we.
So we get the social clique mandated theme park ride that runs right into a DPS wall instead. Not classic.

?? gear up by pugging pvp? Best you would get is probably blue set pvp unless you were sweating 10x as hard as the raiders
Wsg gear gives a bunch of preraid bis, and the difference between raid and preraid is largely irrelevant, except for weapons, but raid weapons were also always a thing in classic
Everything you’re describing about “retail” is straight out of the classic andy playbook

Killing people 7 levels below you is hardly pvp either, I’d argue.

It’s really tough for a Lock. You need BFD gear to do BFD. Locks do about 55 Dps in Pre-Raid BiS and Hunter pets do more than that. So I feel ya. It’s really a grind for a lock but maybe it’s worth it latter? Take some time off come back or just poke around.

Yeah! He should’ve just skipped all that pain and joined the gatekeeping group to begin with! Oh wait…
