I thought I’d be able to spend time playing classic but playing it has actually made me realize that I think I’m actually kinda bored with the game now? I log into retail, do a few things and then log off. I log into retail level for a while but with time restraints it just doesn’t seem like I’m getting anywhere.
I gotta give credit to the rest of you for making it to 60 (Y’all are machines!). Anyone else hitting a wall like I am?
Is it IRL responsibilities or do you not find it fun anymore?
If its not fun for you anymore it seems you may have outgrown the game.
If its responsibilities then thats normal.

Sounds like it might just not be for you. For me, I can log in and relax for a short period of time accomplishing not much of anything, but I enjoy the game to the point that even doing that gives me joy.

It’s kind of a bit of both really. I think the inability to spend hours playing classic (like I used to back in the day) which is making it feel REALLY slow for me which is kind of killing the enjoyment I think. It’s definetly not my class/race cause like, look at her she’s beautiful!
I get what you mean. The enjoyment you found was from the hours you spent immersed in the world.
The time constraints you have prevent you from having the same immersion.
No one beats father time. Maybe something will change where you can have your time back to play

I work a 9-5 job Monday through Friday. I have a significant other and some various social obligations. But I try to find at least a couple of hours a day to play, and several hours on the weekends. That said, I’m only level 41 right now. Classic leveling was slow, and frankly I like it that way. Makes every level feel good, especially as you get into the higher levels.
I think too many people are chasing end-game content and forgetting that back when WoW was first released, the leveling and the small inconveniences were PART of the game. Some of the best quests in the game are pre-60 quests. For instance, on Alliance I still remember doing “The Missing Diplomat” quest chain. I really FELT like was on this adventure to unravel a shadowy plot to undermine the nobels of Stormwind over bad blood. It was great fun.
Heck, VanCleef’s Line of “Lapdogs, all of you!” will forever resonate in my head and that was level 20 content.

You may not be enjoying your class. But remember that classic is a journey. Taking your time to level, do professions, dungeons - is key to your enjoyment. The best thing I can tell you is to take a pause and smell the roses. If you come to classic with a retail mindset, you won’t have fun. I suggest rerolling to a mindless dps class like mage or rogue and give it another try!
I hit a wall around 35… enough where I deleted this toon and rolled a priest. I’ve mained both classes over the years.
When I got the priest up to 38 I had 2nd thoughts and undeleted the mage. Maybe it was the rest XP? Ended up rolling with it and hit 55 last night with the priest at 40.
All this since launch while holding down a full time job and cooking dinner for the girlfriend.
The thing is that at level 22 your leveling pace hasn’t really even slowed down that much yet.
If you’re feeling like you don’t have enough time at level 22 it’s not going to get better.
Out of curiosity, do you find yourself preferring retail specifically for the reason that you feel like it requires less time?

Clearly too OP. Blizz please nerf.
Tom Brady has done the best job at holding him off though.
I feel you a bit, my mage is 50. I get a couple hours a night to play and I can’t get a level so I feel like I’m not accomplishing anything. That leads to me not playing my mage. I’m alt-ing, cause I like alt-ing, but it’s just going to happen again when I get to the last half of leveling.
I need to figure out how to push through, cause I do enjoy classic tho. Tips appreciated
sounds to me like it’s not the game it’s rather the way the game is currently being played. For instance when vanilla was live 90% of players were not rushing content and speed aoe farming through everything. Now that retail mentality has seeped into classic.
That being said I understand how you feel. Many people in my guild are 60 and they have recruited other 60s to fill raid spots since some of us are still leveling. (I also work a lot). So i do get the discouragement that you are not as efficient and feel as though you are being left behind. I can assure you however that upon reaching 60 there will still be plenty to do, as the MAJORITY of players are in the same boat as yourself.

I like playing classic but i find it is just to time consuming for me to play. All my friends play it non stop when they are not at work so i find it hard to keep up with them. I find i definitely don’t enjoy it as much as i used too but its not like i hate it. I only like playing this on the weekends because i actually have enough time to get a level or 2. But during the work week i spend most of my time just walking to areas where i have to do quests and then not having enough time to complete them. I like the game i just don’t like it enough to play it every second i’m not working.
I have pretty much played it every second I haven’t been working with the mage at 55 and priest at 40… both with 300 alchy/herb/FA/cooking.
Pushing for 60 by the end of the weekend on the mage… priest will be just played once a week on full rested XP.
It’s been a grind… but the light at the end of the tunnel is near.
I kind of feel the same way. The game was fun at first, but when the nostalgia and excitement wore off and I was spending more time not actually doing quests but running around to turn them in, I get bored quick. Just the other day, I tried to play some but quickly turned off the game to do some chores around the place. I found more excitement rearranging my cabinet that spending more downtime than up time.
I think its the gear treadmill effect. There is no official satisfying ending to Wow, and the story for the most part is…meh. There are some good parts, but its mostly meh with hammy writing and cliched tropes that has been played out thousands of times before.
I’m waiting for Warcraft 3 Reforged. Classic is okay, but it gets boring for a person that has been there and done that a thousand times before.

I got a wall around 35 also. I have 3 alts at this point though. So I just flip here them all. Do fishing, cooking, professions. Use that rested exp. Play a spec that’s fun.
The biggest thing for me though: get sleep.
Nothing makes me stare at the screen more than being really tired but feeling like I need to play WoW. And playing WoW takes away sleep sometimes. It’s a weird thing to think about, but I bet a lot of people that play WoW are sleep deprived. Especially if working 9 to 5 with a family.
I hear he has a painting stashed up in h s attic…
