The numbers actually prove just the opposite. You cant run keys without a tank. Yet even with the key squish taking out half the lower levels, the number of keys run on a daily average remain as solid (if not better) over the course of the last 6 years, at least.
Currently, TWW S2 is averaging nearly 260,000 keys ran per day (skewed data with it being so early in the season)

With the tank nerf, key squish, and introduction of delves, there were more individual tank characters in TWW S1 than there were in DF S3 at the same level (10+).

When I pull up LFG I’m looking for a specific key/level I feel like running, and will apply to groups that look the easiest to heal (has lust, two people that can brez, and whichever groups have IO scores that look like they’re capable of doing the content without making my life miserable). If I pull up LFG and there’s only 2-3 groups listed where everyone has white/grey IO scores I just go do something else and check back later.
I say this at least a handful of times every season, but I have no idea where the M+ toxicity is that everyone is always talking about. Maybe 1-5 keys out of the hundreds I pug every season will have someone say something mean/negative, and basically the rest people don’t type at all except ‘hey, and ggs.’
