Seems a bit odd coming from a Guild that invite spams random players.
Seems a bit intrusive and mildly tyrannical just for simple membership.
I mean I get using Discord for instanced group content but simple guild membership?
What do you guys think? It’s just sort of a general curiosity for me.
It should be required. Why join a guild if you aren’t going to be social and do stuff with them? If you want a guild where you can join and be a nobody then you should join a cesspool auto-invite guild.
Well, they are entitled to require anything they want for their guild. Don’t like it. Just leave. Why bother complaining about what other people do in guilds or groups of their own construction?
I think it is their guild their rules…If you they require discord than either get discord or hit the road…kind of simple
I joined one of those guilds-left five minutes later after they told me that discord was required for all members. Any time you were on in guild you should be in discord. (Any time-you don’t even have to be grouped with people in your guild)I have nothing against discord and enjoy it very much. But you are not going to tell me when I should be in there.

I think of requiring Discord the same way I think of requiring my phone number, or address. I just want to play the game with some people, we don’t need to get THAT close.
It is kind of strange, but they can require whatever they want, as its their guild.
Yeah that’s not something I’d go along with, I can be social without having voice chat on. Voice chat means I’m using headphones, but unless I’m doing a raid I’d rather use my surround sound speakers and subwoofer.
I don’t really care one way or the other, I’m more interested in a broader point of view.
I’m also totally fine with not being in a guild, particularly while leveling a new character since there really isn’t much that being in a guild adds to the experience over not being in one. End game activities? Yeah, sure.
I accepted the invitation to see if they really had lots of members giving they were boasting a 14,000 member community.
This was one of those cesspool auto-invite guilds!
One can be social in Guild chat within the game. Doesn’t really require a 3rd party program.

Required for what? How can you require some one to be in discord all the time?
What they intend to kick anyone who doesn’t just join the server? Join it and mute it and never look at it again.
Odds are they have some gimmick they are relying on third party services for.
Discord should be for socializing and getting to know each other better. If you join a guild, this is something you should do anyway, but making it mandatory will just breed contempt.
You can’t force people to be friends with each other.
There’s this too. If I’m using a chat client, might as well use the one in game in green. Voice chat? Well I’m not inclined to listen to random people chatter while playing over watching Rick and Morty or a Marvel marathon. Much less have the headset on the whole time!
Communication is a necessary for heroic and mythic raids. Most if not all raiding guilds require discord and for good reason.
Casual and leveling guilds don’t require discord.
I see we are both on Sargeras. I bet its the same guild lol. I cant recall their name though, it was literally ten minutes of my life.
I mean that was their thing. It was posted in the guild message of the day and constantly reposted. Also, joining the Discord and attending a guild meeting was also mandatory. With only a couple of weeks of membership and not knowing how long I may remain concurrently subscribed (I come and go frequently) it’s not like I’d have anything to add to any discussions!
Requiring it during a raid is one thing, but requiring it at all times when logged into WoW? That’s just ridiculous.
Funnily enough, it’s the guild that the forums show me being a member of even though they did boot this character! I got a big chuckle out of that too.
Requiring discord to join a guild is a lot different than saying you NEED to be on discord all the time.
Requiring discord to join is a good way to see if people are serious about raiding. I don’t know of any guild that requires you to be on discord all the time. If that was the case than I definitely would not join said guild.
