Weird stat weights and sim on mage?

Hey so doing arcane, guides and most other things say haste is a high priority for us. Anytime I sim though, it has me dump haste for crit/vers.

Currently at 17% haste and it wants me to drop another haste item for crit/vers. The vers is really nice when attempting 13/14s but its so awkward to me to be dropping so much haste.

Sims had me replace a myth stitchflesh for a hero crit/vers.

Is there a known sim trap happening with certain items where it devalues haste or something?

Stop using stat weights is all i can tell you. It will hurt more than it helps.

Just use top gear.

I’m using top gear, just keeps having me drop haste pieces. I’ve ignored another option it recommends because I really don’t want to fall below 15% haste.

I wouldnt worry about it then. Just keep doing what youre doing anywhere else and the stats will even out as you go

I think SS favours more crit and vers now but that doesn’t mean the other stats are useless. Anyone using high haste is purely doing it because higher haste makes the rotation feel better and everyone targeted more haste gear for SF before the nerfs. Even when sunfury was the stronger hero talent sims wanted to me drop haste even at around 23%, when everyone was using upwards of 30% at the time, I asked myself the same question

I recommend 20% haste as Arcane at the very least. If you start dropping for Versatility then the moment you need to start casting Arcane Blasts it would hamper your DPS drastically. The more milliseconds you spend on casting, the more you’ll lose out on DPS. Now there comes a point where there becomes too much haste because the higher the percentage, the more haste is required to achieve the next level and at that point it becomes moot because you aren’t getting much knocked off casting time, but if you’re still sitting at 15% then I’d say that’s pretty low for Arcane standards.

I bring haste, and a ton of it, because I mostly do M+ and while it is not ideal for the best rotation, it IS ideal for dealing with mechanics. Having low haste in a challenging dungeon feels really bad because every stop you use, every dispel, every GCD-mechanic just feels awful, particularly in the big burn.

Having higher haste means losing less dps to doing mechanics.

The sims happen in a vacuum where literally none of these buttons are pressed.

I have come to the conclusion of 30% haste (18500) 25% mastery (9000) 5% versa (3900) and 17% crit (5200) so far has been my most optimal for arcane spellsinger and fire/frost but I am not a pro I just play with what I feel comfortable with (keeping some rings to swap in case I need more crit or versa)

That’s the smartest thing to do. Use one (or more) of those 619 crafting crests from faction renown and make a ring. That way you can always recraft it for whatever secondary stat combination is best.
