Weird MSG from Blizzard other day

So other day I got a strange message pop up in game. It was going on about interactions with other players and it was like if it keeps up there will be consequences. Very threatening doom and gloom but no explanation as to what the heck the issue was. I dont really say much in trade or general chat I dont really play with people right now other then a few BFA dungeons I tanked lvling a new toon. the only thing I can think of is I told some people to stop pulling everything and act like they knew what was going on. Is there a way to find out what the heck blizz is threatening me about or is it just a result of people putting in some automated report cuz they dont like you?

Sounds like you got reported.

If you received a whisper saying it was from Blizzard promising doom and gloom then that was extremely likely a phishing message attempting to scare you into going into a website to enter your account info so they can steal it.

If it was an actual in-game notification complete with separate distinct UI Elements that required you to click and acknowledge, then it was probably this:

but the question is for what? If I dont know what I did how can I correct the issue. ITs like getting a traffic ticket in the mail thats just a warning but it fails to tell you what you did to warrant the warning

Probably this since it came to mind.

there is no way to find out. went through the same thing recently. I never talk in trade and rarely say anything in bgs but here is this random pop up that your account has been reporting for something dont do this something again or you will get banned, Ive been trying really hard to want to play wow but things like this make it hard

if it was from blizzard they would have a pop up whisper tab only for them and you have to click on it
it could be like grymauch said a scam

reason it came to mind was it was a group from the same guild. People can be vindictive. Also it was a pop up window not a PST so it wasnt a scam it just left me wondering what in gods name I did.

probably people reporting you for abusive language or something and with most things related to the report system in my experiences it’s always automated. you get so many reports they send an automated message/actually ban you and then you have to appeal to it. it’s pretty dumb tbh but that is basically how their system works automated. thats why a lot of people abuse their system and report people for silly things.

last time i got reported was on the forums. topic was legit really didn’t do anything for the ToS but of course people got salty thought i was trolling instead of reading the actual post and just the title, throw in their 2c and then report. got reported so much the system closed the thread. appealed the thread and it got reposted within 5 minutes of the appeal. later that day you find same posts by big streamers talking about the same topic.

Most of the mistakes I’ve made in my life I’m unaware of them initially as well. Until you become more aware of the situation. Some people can be quite sensitive in groups. It helps to go in knowing that.

I know im rough I get asked all the time if I am a combat vet (no im not just a army brat with PTSD and a TBI) Im sarcastic as all getout and I expect people to try their best and ask questions if they need help. but to allow people to just report like this and not give atleast a time date server stamp or something to give a person a little info I will just assume its a snowflake that I made feel bad cuz I out dps them as a tank

Yea, the general direction the community wants is a more polite, positive, friendly experience. I have a few ex-military friends irl that are more rough nosed personalities, and I know that and don’t take it personally, but its going to be tough for that to translate well to strangers in an mmo.

People could always just report you like that. The difference is that now Blizzard lets you know when they do it.

I really dont like the way the world and Blizz is going. Its funny I never use the word offended but im becoming quite offended by things like body type 1 and body type 2 removal of things and ect. I like my poop quests the cat call whistle the raunchy jokes my favorite saying from game is Thralls Balls! i have been know to yell that in real life. I want my old wow back with in game GMs and NPCs that call each other “female dog” wait body type 2 dog edit to point out ive been playing over 18 years im 39 and have more then 4 years of /played time in wow so yeah im quite invested in my fantasy world

They don’t typically share the reason to keep people from figuring out what their filters are and so forth. Yet warnings like that are due to players mass reporting you, in which their mostly benign if you weren’t doing anything directly wrong. Yet I would simply limit your talking to other in general chat as people seem to get off to spam reporting people over the stupidest things. To try and get them silences, suspended or banned from the game.

Welcome to the trouble maker club.

thank you for the kind welcome

Mostly linked in proper communication. Going forward be nice to other players or keep quiet. Best way to play the game.
