Weird graphical glitches

I periodically get a set of weird graphical glitches after playing for long periods of time, which can (usually) only be fixed by logging out on a character and then logging back in. These have been happening since I bought Shadowlands last year, and have persisted through using Scan and Repair, doing a full uninstall and re-install, and multiple graphics card driver updates. The glitches generally look like black bars with raised bits that follow the lines of flowing bits of background (air currents, etc), though they also occasionally replace static textures like rocks or trees. There’s also a rainbow effect that happens as well.

Tried putting a link to the imgur gallery in this post, since I’ve seen other posters use those, but it’s giving me an error, so here’s the tail end of the imgur link: /a/zEK3YW9

This looks like artifacting from the GPU. It can be caused by a corrupted driver or overheating. A clean install the driver may help, otherwise, I advise checking the temperatures of hardware while playing.

I’ve done this, and my GPU temperatures aren’t exceeding the normal ranges–I had one singular spike to 80c that did not cause the glitches over the course of four hours of playing, but had several instances that occurred separate from that, both before and after. Additionally, it occurred today when the game was completely idle and had reverted back to the login screen.

Unfortunately, this problem is being produced by the hardware itself or its driver. I’ve already mentioned the steps you can take to monitor the situation and/or resolve it. I also want to stress that it’s important to use HWMonitor and not software that provides averages only.

You might want to go to your graphic car shortcut and adjust resolutions and colors. Hope that helps.
