Just thought I’d give my thoughts on the debate in ways that only the DLC knows
I really hope they allow some kind of crossover between covenants and the abilities from the opposing factions. Oh well, guess we’ll see if Preach’s interview will shed light on this dumb philosophy of Lord Lawyer/veteran 40 man raider
To be fair my biggest concern was always “I’m gonna pick this covenant because of it’s ability but get denied because it’s not in the meta”. I haven’t really followed covenants too much to avoid spoiling the story/quests.
Really, that’s the problem.
No problem in a covenant being better at dps, but in someone being dropped from a group because they chose something out of the goals of the raid Io/M+/BGs maniacs.
I’m thinking that 95% of the community will almost immediately get over the covenant meta once the game has been going for a month or so.
What I’m saying is it makes way more sense to choose the covenant that’s the most fun and stick with it. That will last long term rather than picking the covenant that’s part of the meta at the time.
To me it’s just like picking a class [to main] - which choice will ultimately make you enjoy the game the most? Pick that one and run with it.
Once the lustre of the lore and immersion is gone - which, think back to how long you forgot about whether you chose Gonk or Paku - and all these things are are an inconvenience when you DON’T have one of the others abilities… 95% of the community and especially the casual/mid-tier playerbase are going to be so done with not being able to pick the one that’s better for the content they enjoy. Most people aren’t locked into one area of the game. Things that restrict maneuvering around the entire game are just going to make people mad.
Will that information even be made available from inspecting or the armory? I really really doubt anyone is going to care one way or another.
I’m just gonna laugh at all the hardcore raiders that chose the best dps ability then it gets nerfed into the ground then theyre stuck with it. That would be hysterical.
