I have been flying around in this pointless grind for 4 hours now, this week and last week. I have 6 alts with professions that I wanted to keep up with, but this is getting ridiculous, we already have to grind a ton of abundance events to craft our epic equipment, how is this weekly treasure hunt supposed to be a good thing?
It’s really frustrating to be swaping between maps, and flying around for HOURS to find one or two treasures every 5 minutes to then see that you did not get those danm knowledge points, over and over and over again. I really doubt blizz will do something about this mindless grind but here is my rant.
I guess I just need to quit my job and become a pro treasure hunter to keep up with all my toons.
Sprinting in a marathon is usually never a good idea, and that’s what an MMO is.
I don’t think you understood what was said @Qaccy
Might get roasted for suggesting an addon, but here goes, lol: weeklyknowledge at least helps you check on what toons have gotten their stuff done/what is available for the week.
I can track this very well with Myu’s. It’s this excruciating grind that is just way too off.
I think I do. I’m saying I don’t think it really matters enough to sweat over min/maxing profession knowledge to the point that it isn’t fun to do. You have every right to do that, I just question that decision because it doesn’t sound very healthy.
To put it more plainly: So what if you don’t get every available knowledge point in a given week?
Somehow I got all mine for LW while searching for DumbDumb shards in Zul.
In my experience, catchup points the following week are much easier to get whether nodes or treasures, versus getting them the prior week. Often just the difference between doing it on a hard Monday versus an easy Tuesday. ![]()
You get a very limited ammount of profession knowledge every week. It’s capped, you can’t rush it, but you can fall behind very easy tho. The game has a ton of chores if you want to be efficient and competitive, this is just one of the systems that are really really badly done. In TWW we had a place in Hallowfall with a spawn of little treasures that was a bit less painful to do, you had to fly in circles for about 15-20 minutes to get them all, 30 if you were unlucky, now it’s been 3 hours and 46 minutes, clocked in, and I’m done, one treasure still missing. I won’t keep looking bc this is very sadge.
The kp treasure thing has been there since df
The thing is, it kind of takes no lifing it in order to be able to actually make the important gear before it becomes obsolete. Or to be already rich enough to afford required materials that you need knowledge points to be able to make yourself
I honestly wish they would just get rid of profession knowledge altogether. It makes the process way too complicated when daily cooldowns were enough of a limiter already
I was done on 2 toons in under 20 minutes after figuring out zul’aman wasn’t spawning treasures for some reason. I’d say if you dont see any treasures in one lap around the zone, try a new one.
It doesn’t work like that for crafting professions. Gathering professions get their weekly and catchup gear, well just from gathering.
This early in the expansion if you want your crafting professions to be relevant you simply have to get weekly points from treasures, there is no way around it. Catchup points mechanic is very bad, it’s time gated and locked behind patron crafting orders which are often very expensive or require nearly unobtainable recipes.
Imo the best way to farm points from treasures is to use Rare Scanner addon. After you find a treasure you can just click it, and it will show you all possible spawn points. It just takes few minutes to get your weekly points.
Back in TWW you could just hunt for disturbed dirt treasures, there was one kind of treasure that was relevant to you, but now in midnight each zone has differently named treasures that could drop the points. People are simply now familiar with the names yet.
Crafted gear doesn’t really ever become obsolete though because of embellishments—either items that have them by default or the ones that’re added manually. I was using crafted gear for every season of TWW and the thing that limited me more often than not were the crests. The skill requirements didn’t take me very long to reach, even on the alts I barely played specifically to be able to craft everything myself. ![]()
