'Weathered of the Undermined' Achievement Incorrect on Wowhead?

I just got this achievement without thinking I’d qualify for it.

On Wowhead it says “Reach a High Watermark of 636 in Every Slot During The War Within Season 2 (Outgrow Weathered Undermine Crests) (636)” - This indicates that you need to upgrade 1x using the next crest level; in this case a Carved crest.

I went to the bloody token vendor to buy a 4/8 veteran-track helm which is 632 and immediately got the achievement.
All my other gear is 636+ and the only 2 reasons I can think of why I got the achieve is either:

  1. It’s counting as 675 pvp ilvl and some kind of bug (didn’t have warmode on when buying)
  2. We don’t need 636 in each slot and only 632

“Outgrow the use of X type of crest” to me reads as if you have no more use for X crest. So when you upgrade/buy/loot an item that’s 4/8 on its track, why would you need to spend the next type of crest to satisfy you’ve outgrown the previous crest, when you’re not spending anymore of the previous crest to go to 5/8+?

I’m trying to figure out because planning the next achieve, ‘Carved of the Undermined’ will seriously alter how and when I spend my current carved crests.

S1 gear counts toward the achieve, all it cares about is equipped ilvl 632 in each slot. Has nothing to do with using the upgrade function.

If pvp ilvl counted then that would be a crazy bug, and it wouldn’t stop at weathered. You’d already have the Carved and Runed achieves too in that case.

Well I definitely don’t have S1 char on this newly leveled alt.

So it is only 632 then? Makes sense why I got the achieve as soon as I bought it off the vendor.
Wowhead is making me think I need to spend 15 carved crest in each slot to get to 636 :face_with_spiral_eyes:
