Weather buff?!

I haven’t been playing in a while, but I always get 5 wins during the pet week for my free level 25 stone and saw Sandstorm and Darkness now do like 30% more damage. My question (as someone who uses Darkness and Sandstorm teams) is WHY? Weather abilities themselves are OP as it is and help a myriad of other abilities by being in affect.

I’m not complaining out of salt. I primarily use Weather based teams to counter heal teams and because Darkness -> Nocturnal Strike is crazy dps. But now I’m switching my Bone Serpent’s Nocturnal Strike for Darkness because it’s either 659 damage with 50% accuracy or 740 damage with 100% accuracy AND applies darkness.

Just does not strike me as something that needed a buff at all in my opinion. Can someone explain the rationale behind this or give me their thoughts?

Thanks!

I think because they only last 5 turns? The other weathers last 9, right?

This is part of the reason. They stated something like weather should change the rules of pet battles. They then went and buffed mudslide and blizzard and also introduced toxic fumes.

There were also some undocumented changes that got picked up. I cant remember any of them.

But this is precisely why it should be nerfed. Sunlight makes heals op, arcane storm makes mana surge op, darkness makes nocturnal strike always hit, etc. The advantage is you’re using weather to set up and ramp your damage or healing.

I’d still use sunlight, arcane storm or darkness even if they did 150 damage because of what I can do when that weather condition is up.

True, but 5 turns is still plenty of time to take advantage of this, plus after 5 turns it’s off cooldown.

The Weather Outside is Fight-ful

Weather effects have always been intended to slightly change the rules of pet battles. Sandstorm is great against pets that do weaker attacks, Sunlight is great for healing abilities, and Cleansing Rain is great for aquatic abilities.

Google some of that to get the complete post. In the mean time working as intended.

On a side note I find weather teams to be a good alternative to the meta groups used in dailies.

For example looking at xu-fu there is a clear meta of, use a dragon and a mechanical in your team vrs natural defenders. I use a moonlight team with neither.

Have used a sunlight team with no heals for another and plan on creating a darkness team. Oh and I got a toxic fumes one as well vrs eyegors special friends.

I find a lot of teams in the meta already used weather changers. I might just be out of the loop as my sample size for pet battles recently has been very small.

I listed them in a Twitter thread. It’s about 10 tweets long:
