Weapons Rarely Dropping

Hello, I am not sure if its just my bad luck. But is there a reason blizzard has lowered the rate weapons drop in raids/dungeons?

It was bearable in the beginning of shadowlands, because eventually a weapon would drop if you kept running raids/ M+ every week. Now as someone who raids almost every week, averages 2-5 M+'s weekly I have only seen one weapon drop in the last 3 months. Yes I understand Rng and no I don’t want things handed to me.

Yes i know S4 is allowing you to buy weapons directly. Its just the principle that for some reason the devs have lowered the rate weapons dropped by a lot. Yet, rings and cloaks drop like crazy.

I’m not asking for weapons to drop all the time, and be super easy to get. Just not so scarce like they are now.

I may come off as complaining, which isn’t my intention. I figured it would be more constructive to voice my concern directly on a blizzard site rather than complain on Twitter.

Drop rates weren’t lowered, this is RNG.

HOnestly if you need a weapon that bad you should just be doing pvp. You can get your weapon already and iirc i think you can get a like…270 something weapon from unranked conquest gear?

I’ve been getting weapon drops left and right when I’ve been after a trinket for a month. :frowning:

Probably just RNG friend. In my experience, weapons drop a lot in the +2-5 range, where it’s ridiculous to upgrade. Never had a weapon drop in the 10+ range. Vault wasn’t bad though. S3 just in the like… 3rd week or so, got a 278 2 hander. Kept all season pretty much, but never got any 1 handers, which I actually wanted.

Fortunately with no valor cap you can just keep on truckin and save valor as some bad luck protection in the event that you plow through some 3s/4s and get a weapon.

Best to pvp for the new weapons.

Yep, RNG’d. You need Trinkets; I got one today from the Fated World Boss, and another in the Great Vault from doing LFR last week (Ilvl 265). I need a weapon upgrade from the 246 one I have now. (All of this on my main) and you’re getting those left and right. Figures.

Defo try to grind out some conquest from the weeklies for this. Not that fun if you don’t like pvp, but it’s less RNG’ey than pve I find. I usually do this myself but the last 3 seasons my luck kicked in JUST before I burned conquest on a pvp weapon…

Actually I think the honor weapons are also above 246 now.

Appreciate the thought, but that’s a hard pass. I don’t do PvP. If I’m stuck with the 246 one I have now until DF, I won’t cry about it.

Lol, then you have me who literally got 3 trinkets from Fated LFR CN last week - then just got 2 from Fated SoD LFR this week… T_T

So are casinos. Odd how the house always wins though. It’s like the can set the odds or something.

I’ve had 3 staves, 1 dagger, 1 offhand drop in my 32 dungeons. I must be supa lucky! :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

…I dont know if you are being sarcastic or not. The house always gives themself an edge to make money. Likewise Blizz limits gear drops to 3 or so per kill… but the gear is still split from there if you want only one type. Of course if p = 1/12 it will feel like you fail more often than you succeed.

Im running 20+ weekly and weapons are rare but it did land a heroic jathies last night first fated kill. rNg is RnG

Frustration = Challenge in the developer bubble.

Now do what you’re told and enjoy yourself.

The RNG is dynamic in many games, based on formulas that suggest whether you need a drop to keep you motivated, or whether they can string you out longer to keep you playing.

This has a lot to do with PL being stupid and assigning the drop after it selects the person who gets loot.

So you get encouraged armor stacking and massive amounts of items that are on everyone’s loot table like cloaks, rings, and necks.

The items that are in few loot tables per dungeon/boss, like weapons, then become very rare.

Have you tried spamming the same dungeon for multiple runs? Because that method would work for any gear.

Yeah, trinkets are raining like crazy.
Everything else though is MIA.

I’ve long suspected they use some sort of curated “When you’re due” system. Especially in BfA where my gear slots got upgraded in roughly the same order at the same pace every tier.
