Been thinking about stuff that just feels weird in wow or is only maintained for legacy reasons:
Weapon Types are purely aesthetic now or class restricted - mace, sword, fist, axe, dagger warglaive. As far as I am aware these are all completely interchangeable (if your class can equip them) and they make 0 difference to gameplay.
There are no more racials, weapon skills/talents or perks… I miss that.
in much the same way as spell resistances used to be distinct I would love to have the different phyiscal damage types: Blunt/crushing, piercing, slashing and bleed, especially if different phases/bosses of a raid were strong/weak vs different weapon types or if you could stagger/expose a weakness.
The only difference is you can’t mog daggers for some reason.
I agree it feels weird. I remember skill points and weapon speed and maces stunning, swords getting and extra attack, etc.
On the other hand, aquisition is so RNG now, I’m not sure I could stomach getting a high ilevel weapon with a tertiary or gem slot, and then realize it’s a fast weapon and useless for MH.
Isnt that cause rogue still requires only daggers for a specific abilities? The day mutilate and backstab doesnt need daggers is the day we’ll be able to mog daggers to other things.
It’s not that they shouldnt. It’s probably more likely they cant. These abilities need daggers only. I’m not part of the staff, but there could be some kind of limitation in the game about it. Either way, blizz is lazy about it.
I had a Polearm with Int drop for my Holy Pally, I always thought I could only use a 1h mace or w/e and a shield. I raged for a second thinking how dumb I get a weapon I couldn’t use but then I equipped it and bam, there it was.
There I was a Holy Pally with this gigantic 2 handed Polearm! Looked awesome!
They said the same thing about fist weapons not being able to be mogged as sword/axe/mace and that clearly wasnt true
I would loooove to be able to use swords in all specs, I mean we could in the beginning and shadowlands is all about making the specs feel more of the same
Would make a blademaster transmog set in a heartbeat if I could mog my daggers into katana
I mean shadow for some reason can have a sword/axe/mace in their offhand already, why not just open up the options already?
Could just keep things as is but just add daggers the list of one hand weapons that are interchangeably transmogged, thatd probly be the easiest way to go
That would open up daggers to the warriors, shaman, and I think demon hunters? I could be wrong on that last one but more options are always welcomed in my book
So lets give every weapon type a thematic stat (or pool of stats).
Swords apply a bleed, increases damage taken as you move
maces a sunder effect
axes crit harder
fist weapons proc stagger/vulnerability debuff
daggers pierce shields/absorbs deal more damage the longer your target stays still.
