I was looking through some of the other MMOs out there and a hand full of them like ESO, Guild wars 2, and New World you use 2 weapons with 2 separate ability bars and your rotation is constantly swapping between the 2 bars.
Do you think something like that would ever work for WoW? I personally don’t like swapping and prefer it simple with one bar and weapon.
People whine about buttons and talents already. Could you imagine the breakdowns over two bars that swap?

No. That combat style is mostly reserved to action oriented MMOs, and it also feels scuffed as hell, especially if you have a high ms(which tends to be the MMORPG norm for people outside of North America or Europe due to the lack of regional servers).
Also, WoW already has way too many keybinds, it would be crazy to add more stuff to keep track of.

Oh man, remember when you had to use a weapon long enough to build up your proficiencies in it? Yeah, that was 20 years ago—this post just hit me with a wave of aww, remember when… and a bit of PTSD from playing a rogue and grinding dagger skills. Good times… sort of.
Weapon swapping was almost extremely competitive in Castle Nathria before Blizzard nerfed what made it good (for Death Knights specifically.)
It’s degenerate and they (as well as players) don’t want it to be a thing.
MH Wilds is allowing you to bring another weapon, so weapon-swapping will become more of a thing there.
weapon swapping was/is a thing in classic WoW.
warrior tanks could dual wield for threat and swap mid fight to 1h/shield when they needed to for block/defensives.
Rogues would swap weapons based on the poisons they wanted to stab you with (e.g. slow casting time, slow movement speed, etc.)
druids might have done that with the degenerate manual crowd pummeler
maybe other examples.
back to the level 1 boars…then eventually off to the blasted lands where those mobs went immune…

Most of the MMOS that have that weapon swapping also have 3-5 buttons per bar.
I’d be stoked if they just brought back secondary weapons/stat sticks for all the classes. It looked cool for characters to carry around an entire arsenal. Plus it would be a chance for them to actually make survival the hybrid thing they pretend it is already.
I despise swapping bars.
In any of those games I would much rather have both bars active and available, and you automatically switch to whichever weapon is tied to the skill you use (like poe2 or I think T&L)
We used to, then I got cancelled cuz of runeforge
I mean if you want to totally gut classes and player agency and give people only 5-6 abilities at a time…sure.
I like how it is now personally
I swap specs and equipsets all the time. Anyone who gets bored with a fixed set can stop being a one-trick pony and use the variety that’s already available to everyone.
No.
There were times when poisons were on weapons that I had to swap weapons for specific parts of a fight but since abilities aren’t actually tied to weapons, why would another class swap?
I guess tanks could for more dps but that’s the only time I could see it.
