I end up equipping a mace because it’s higher ilvl but what I really need is either a 2 handed axe or polearm, preferably the polearm because of the damage it does.
Both axes and polearms do more damage than swords or maces.
My question is, does it really matter? And if not, then why the difference in damage between the weapons?
Maces everywhere but no polearms and very few axes is what I’ve found.
I was looking at all the BS weapons and maintaining type to type (2h str to 2h str, 1h str to 1h str, etc) the stats and speeds on all of them are the same. The difference comes in the minimum and maximum possible damage per hit. I haven’t done the math to see if they all end up having the same average of that min and max though.
I suspect it probably is a neglible difference, if there is any at all and the damage stats are for flavour, to make it seem as if one if better than another but not sure.
Either way, it’s become this mental tick for me now as in “I have to have a polearm to be more effective” kind of thing.
All weapon types do the same damage as long as all stats are equal and no other modifiers are involved.
