Anyone want to see this not included in Classic Wow… ie pre weapon normalization patch game?
It would cause issues with class balance. It would basically be a buff exclusive to rogues, warriors, hunters, ret paladins and enhancement shamans.
So they should leave it as it was in 1.12.

Weapon speeds for me added a level of interest.
Weapons with slower speeds still deal more damage than a faster weapon with similar DPS. You just don’t get the extra bonus from attack power.
weapon speed normalization was done in, iirc, patch 1.8 for warriors and rogues, and then in 1.10 for hunters
it only affects the AP contribution for certain abilities so that they are unaffected by your weapon speed, for the sole purpose of attempting to make fast weapons not suck
it worked to a limited extent; slow weapons were still better than fast ones for warriors, hunters, and rogues(excluding offhands), but not by as much, so that, for instance, you could find an upgrade to steelarrow crossbow BEFORE hitting level 60 and raiding BWL, and so that barman shanker wasn’t better than felstriker
so yeah, I’d rather have it in the game

talking about class balance as a reason for something to be in or not be in classic. i almost died from laughing i couldn’t breathe it was very painful.
This was my experience as I messed with a combat based rogue the first time around. It was slow main hand such a mace. And fast off hand such as a sword or dagger.
Your personal opinions on class balance don’t change the facts.
Changes to weapon speed normalization would in fact tip the scales in favor of the classes which use abilities that factor in their weapon damage. That’s a fact. Backstab would do more damage on slower weapons. That’s a fact. Mortal strike would do more damage on a slower weapon. That’s a fact.
If 1.12 is the most balanced vanilla patch then they should not remove weapon speed normalization as it messes with class balance.
I’d rather not have 70% of the weapon options in the game made highly suboptimal. Rogues got buffed in 1.12 and Warriors don’t need to be any stronger.
Normalization is fine.

In retail, every weapon of each type is the same speed.
Daggers: 1.8
Other 1 handers: 2.6
2H: 3.0
Different weapon speeds still had an impact on the game as late as the end of Cata. It’s just not as impactful.
And weapon speed normalization is vanilla. No one said anything about class rebalancing. I’m just saying leave it as it was.
Alright, I agree. There are degrees of normalization until the retail version or homogenization. I fine with 1.12 with the AP normalization.
This isn’t a weapon speed normalization, it’s only normalizing the scaling of abilities from weapon speed. That way you don’t end up with 6.2k damage Aimed Shots or barman shanker rogues hitting harder than BWL rogues.
There’s no reason to not have the weapon ability normalization unless you want melees to be buffed, and I’m pretty sure most people on these forums know just how strong rogues and warriors are in 1.12. They don’t need to be buffed on top of it.
This is pretty much spot on. Rogues and Warriors are in a very healthy state in 1.12.
