Blizz, add Weapon Skill to gear/talents, or 100% remove it from the game and that includes racials, too.
Because seriously, how misguided was it to give humans sword spec AND mace spec when dwarves make the maces and maces are iconic for them. It should have been 10,000 dwarf warriors/rets with Sulfuras, Hand of Rag, instead of 10,000 dwarf priests.
Anyway, if you want to fix the broken meta, weapon skill’s removal would be the best place to start with little effort or take it to completion.

Option A: Adding weapon skills to each race. Alliance
Human: 1h & 2h sword
Dwarf: 1h & 2h maces (+guns)
Night Elf: daggers & polearms (+bows)
Gnome: daggers & 1h swords
Horde
Orc: 1h & 2h Axes (+guns)
Tauren: 1h & 2h Maces
Troll: daggers & polearms (+bows)
Undead: daggers & 1h swords
Option B:
Remove from all races
Option C:
Remove from all races and add it back onto gear, and put weapon skill on things like: off hand weapons, shields, trinkets, relic, Librams, totems, idols etc.
explain how the human racial made the game better? or accidentally leaving in a Lv.40 Edge master’s, which is BIS all of the game, a better choice than to actually think about what mathematically happens with weapon skill.
100% remove weapon skill, or 100% add it to all gear like it was intended.

oh come on now, don’t be dishonest, every knows it was from a scrapped stat system that was removed, but they forgot that one item. those things should have been orange for how absolutely game changing they were from Lv.40 to Naxx.

I always thought it didn’t make sense giving +weapon skill to just humans and orcs.
It would have been cool if humans got swords, dwarves maces, gnomes 1h swords and daggers, nelfs 1h swords and polearms, Tauren maces, orcs axes, undead swords (former humans) and trolls polearms.
To be clear, I like weapon skill in Classic but could have used some tweaks for RP flavor while also reducing the negative impact of not playing a human/orc.
Dispersing +weapon skill across the races based on RP flavor might also result in more diverse weapon distribution and also extend the value of certain weapons.
Adding +Weapons kill to more races is a bad idea. If anything, have +Weapon become an availble buff from novel gear, consumeables, buff, quest rewards.
Alternatively, diminish the gainz from +Weapon Skill by adding novel debuffs that give -Defense Skill!
Edgies works, but they are rare and incredibly expensive. They costed thousands of gold when I played during SoM1 and would rarely come on the market.
Yeah it works, but I would rather just play the race that comes with built in Edgemasters than deal with attempting to buy them on the market. I prefer Troll of course, but not hugely over Orc.
As for Nightfall, ohhhh yeah . Annihilator is also another axe option to use if the guild needs it.
Dwarf makes hammers doesn’t mean they can master it combat. Dwarfs are crafters, they make all kind of weapons. The mountain king dual wielding hammer and axe. But orcs use axe better in general. Just respect the background lore. The people made wow 20 years ago are the group of the best artists and real gamers. I’m pretty sure they thought through it much more than you did. The people making new expansions think they know better and see what happened to the retail.
