Hey Warriors,
Ive been enjoying my warrior recently as the modern rogue doesnt sit right with me.
Being a warrior now and not locked into daggers (ive never enjoyed outlaw) has me looking at axes, maces, swords, etc for the first time in a long, long time.
Ive noticed that all the specific specs for weapons are gone. But as a blacksmith I can specialize. What ive noticed as a smith is that nobody wants hammers. At least not on my server.
Is there any difference worth mentioning between weapon types?
Some still seem to have variety between their damage range. Like ceiling being lower or floor being higher between swords and axes.
Have any of you tested this, is there any marketable difference or does it all depend on the 2ndary stats?

A question like this is best for the warrior discord, they’ll probably give you the answer of “just sim it” which isn’t incorrect but someone there might have already done this test and might be able to provide an answer right away

The damage ranges are all balanced around the end weapon DPS, so it doesn’t actually matter in the grand scheme. Maybe PvP would want a higher top end, but they generally gear towards secondary stats instead. In the end, you’re just going to transmog to your preferred aesthetic.
Personally, I think the dagger warrior thing is laughable outside of timewalking. Even before I got good weapons I was simming 6-7k up on the purported dagger sims. That being said, SMF is viable despite the extra talent cost, and you should roll with whatever your highest weapon iLvl is, since weapon damage/DPS is the highest effective stat for us by a massive margin. Ideally, you want to run 2hs later when you can.
I tried using a dagger offhand and it felt better just having a faster offhand than two identical speeds. But that might just be a visual thing
Is there a build where its like 2h main hand 1h offhand or something lol?
That being said idk what ill be running im just interested in weapon types to see if im making a mistake using maces
For some reason Blizzard decided i’m using polearms this xpac.
I prefer 2H swords so I just transmog.
