Weapon cache, wrong spec?!?!

Why do I get a one hander speced as fury?

Caches are open to all specs.

Same reason BM/MM hunters get polearms. :man_shrugging:

Do you guys feel that blizzard does this on purpose to screw people up, so they dont get what they want and keep playing the game.

They terk yer cash!

Maybe there should be an option where you permanently eliminate all other specs to your class, for diehards who absolutely never want to be anything but their chosen spec. Then all offspec loot options would be eliminated.

Hey, that makes a lot of sense, but it would harm blizzard metrics. So its nahh for blizz

They do it because a number cruncher showed them the math that says frustrating your audience increases revenue.

They neglected to show them the statistics going all the way back to the invention of Tic Tac Toe that prove that humans will flip a table and quit a game forever if it’s unreasonably hard and frustrating, such that they can never, ever win.

If that were true you wouldn’t see posts that players are getting the wrong spec weapon yet again because they would have already quit the game the previous time RNG slapped them.

Instead, every time a cache comes up and RNG wins, there are 10+ threads about it. So clearly players enjoy unreasonably frustrating systems.

So let me get this straight.

You don’t think anyone has quit over this.

Absolutely. Slather a thick layer of RNG on that RNG sandwich.

I didn’t say anything so definitively.

But when players anecdotally give their cache history – 2, 3, 4 weapons in a row that aren’t spec – it shows they’re still running on the hamster wheel after being disappointed time and time again. So while some may have indeed quit, enough are sticking around to be here and make those complaints.

Yup. Its Random. They then go on a Q and A to give a lots of word but zero meaning explanation about how they think its fun. These systems and how they and where they’ve been implemented pushes the player to play more.

Aw didn’t get it this week. Maybe next week will be better. Im also starting to think bad luck protection is just code word for; play longer and maybe it will eventually drop.

I know you didn’t say anything definitively, but you seem to think people haven’t unsubbed over this very issue. Plenty have. Some people can tolerate it more than others. People’s limits are elastic, and vary from person to person.

What i don’t understand is why put up a weapons cache. If they want to keep the chances of getting a usable weapon as low as humanly possible, just make the weapons drop from a general cache. My gripe is that they make it as confusing and frustrating as possible by ignoring their own in-game mechanics like spec selection. Like, why even bother.

You got a free heroic raid level weapon for zero work. What’s the problem here?

Yep, and they miss that not being able to get my new tanks weapons means I don’t tank with them in dungeons. So the RNG is directly related to my lack of tanking. My 367 prot war got a 2h ret weapon and will not tank M+ again this week. My 358 prot war got a 2h arms weapon and will not tank M+ again this week. My 373 brew will not tank this week because I’ve given up trying to get my gloves to finish my set.

Working as intended.

On the flip side, I have a lot more non-WoW time than I thought this week…

Its unuseable.

Make that crappy Melee Spec properly ranged again and we would not have that issue.
