I agree that the fights and the interface should be such that you don’t need help from a program to complete it. But I’m pretty sure that is just never going to be the case. The UI just does not have the information you need to complete some of these mechanics. At times you cannot even see yourself or other key things due to the mishmash of effects on the screen.
Not really, no, and I think Blizzard is aware of the fact. Banning addons will just push them out of sight, but they will still play a pretty big part.
Just look at FFXIV, a game that has officially “banned” addons and third-party tools. And yet DPS meters are still widely used. And tools that are similar to DBM, and so on.
What Blizzard can do is curve how much these addons can do, which I think is more or less their stance right now. As long as they don’t automate the whole process for you, they seem to be okay with it.
My personal gripe is that, if you are going to design around them, then they should make it part of the core game. Instead of relaying on a third-party altogether.
Yes, I know, because I do it lol. Mythic raiding isn’t that hard. It requires about 10 hours per week.
Now, HoF raiding, yeah, that’s a part time job. Regardless, there’s nothing wrong with it. I like having it in the game even though I’ve gone through periods where I prefer something more casual.
OP is correct that it takes the focus almost entirely off of the actual fight and puts the focus on watching screen frames. We’re paying $15/mo to monitor screen frames.
You’re a number, so unless your number stands out, you won’t be looked at any different than the other dps signing up.
And he’s correct in that there are so many applicants (I know; I’m a tank) that at that point the ilvls are so similar that you just look for a class that will complete your comp, and it’s usually finding a ranged dps or a bloodlust.
That’s fine. You don’t have to. That also means you won’t get rewards as good as those who do.
Mythic raiding requires one of two things: Huge amounts of time and moderate skill, or Moderate amounts of time and high skill.
There are 2-day guilds who get CE every tier. There are 7-day guilds who barely make it into HoF. You get what you put in. Don’t be angry because others put more in and get more out.
