so I made a nameplate weakaura for my hunters pet…I want the nameplate to anchor to my pet so it follows him is there a way to do this?

ic…is that because there are too many pets so the WA won’t know which to anchor too?
is there no way to circumvent this so that it anchors only to my pet?
Nope. Blizz made it so friendly nameplates can’t be modified by addons in those scenarios back in 7.2 because they were being used to problem solve in a way that Blizz didn’t think was healthy for the game.

Any nameplates in a restricted context, not just friendlies.
There were two problems back then, one was using friendly nameplates as a rangefinder to trivialize spread mechanics; the other was repurposing, de-anchoring, and arranging enemy nameplates into something like the enmity list from FFXIV. This made it trivial to target mouseover dispels/interrupts/etc.
