the difference between having it and not is like putting a game on expert mode vs beginner. Watch this video by a top player, it takes this person 20 minutes + to explain the intricacies of this addon. The amount of things this can do, the amount of information it can give you, it’s too much. Any addon that is SO important that it’s considered required to play the game shouldn’t exist in said game.
Just watching this video makes my head spin, let alone trying to figure out how to make all this stuff work and I’ve been playing this game a long time. Imagine being a new player and being told that if you want to join a raid you should download this addon and figure it out. I’d be instantly out bro. No thanks.
I understand that a lot of players use this addon and can’t imagine the game without it, but it really needs to go. The baseline game needs to incorporate some of this stuff and disable this.

Probably not. Too many people already using it who don’t want to give it up because of how powerful it is.
It’s not required. Most guilds don’t require it, especially casual ones. Don’t use it if you don’t want to.
the baseline game does incorporate some aura functionality. where do you think that came from? blizz thinking of it themselves? hahahaha. no. it was their pitiful attempt at bringing aura’s in-game.

Speaking on new players, some people make Weak Aura packs that literally tell you which button to press next lol.
I raid very casually and don’t use WA, DBM or w/e, but that’s my choice and it comes at a significant cost to my performance if I’m completely honest. I’d much prefer the game was tuned around what people can naturally do on their own without such combat assist addons.

I use them, and I too would prefer the above. I think most people would.
This is what happens when the community is given everything including all the tools to succeed. An they still find a way to be upset
99% of people just import stuff and it’s good to go, lmao.

This addon is particularly complicated. Call me names if you want, but I have a hard time figuring it out and I’m not new. To be honest, I’ve been playing since 04 and I’m getting pretty old. I’d like to play the game without having to navigate menus and download a bunch of junk. I work construction and stuff like the weakaura menu just makes my head spin. I got my son to play for a bit, he said the game was too complicated and he quit. That was without addons. Easy for you =/= easy for everyone.
I wish Blizz could make a CD and resource monitor like Luxthos. That’s the only reason I have WA.
There is literally a website full of WA packs already built and configured for you. If you can’t figure out how to copy/paste, then idk what to tell you.
Again the addon isnt mandatory, it literally doesnt hurt you for not having it. This has been discussed ad nauseum.
You can either use it or ignore it with no detriment to you as a player. Some people with disabilities use it to help them with visual ques or rotation guidance.
Weakaura is extremely broad for what it does an its only a tool to assist so inb4 someone says it plays the game for you.
You have to figure out the addon exists, then figure out where to DL the addon, then figure out where to DL an addon pack, then figure out where to copy and paste from and to, then figure out how to configure the pack to your own playstyle. Don’t act like it’s the simplest thing in the universe.
The addon doesn’t magically make you better at pressing buttons…

It certainly can be, if you dive into it trying to make your own auras.
you don’t have to do that though. install addon, import a WA you like, and go. it’s that easy. I rarely write my own auras - there’s no need to. someone has already created one that does what I’m looking for.
There’s nothing stopping you from doing so.
That’s not a case statement on addons. it’s a complicated game that can be hard to get into - I don’t think anyone thinks otherwise. The game has always had addons though, so all the pushback on them just seems so fake. If people feel that strongly about addons, why are they playing a game that has them?
My friend it’s 2023 I suggest you come to terms with technology and learn how to navigate it.
