Blizzard said last year before Shadowlands was released that they would not use Arthas’ character lightly. But they didn’t say anything about copying his story arch though. Which is what they are doing with Anduin. They made the guy look almost identical to Arthas. Even when the Kyrian is describing Anduin to the Archon “One who has spent his life striving for justice, one who would give anything to save his people”. That’s literally Arthas and his reason for taking up Frostmourne.
Honestly, I’m not surprised or angry even (irritated sure), Blizzard has been reusing plot lines and story archs for a while now but least they can do is not make it so obvious. I’m just waiting for them to write that Sylvanas will realize that it was the Jailor through Arthas that destroyed Quel’Thalas and is the root cause of her suffering and of all Thalasians. At least that bit will be somewhat entertaining, seeing how they try to write that dialogue.

Heavens, at this point everything is obvious including how they are making money with us.
Before you were just in a huge beautiful world and eventually enjoyed flying and playing. Now it’s even obvious that flying is for alts convenience, (if you use them or a nudge to use them) so people don’t unsub after blasting through early content that is, again obviously, timegated.
Right now there is a bare bones approach to enjoying a game for just the sake of it and a significant amount of time put into “how to make more money” … or not lose what we have.
Story suffers for it

Unfortunately for them I haven’t spent any actual money on their products, not since the introduction of WoW Tokens and Blizzard Balance. Game time and Expansions have been free for me ever since. It doesn’t exactly take any significant amount of time to get the necessary gold either.
They aren’t copying Arthas’s story, though. At least, not with Anduin.
Arthas slowly became the Lich King we know and love to hate today, while Anduin was immediately and forcibly corrupted against his will by an outside force.

Anduin doesn’t just look like Arthas. He is Arthas. Let me repeat that. Anduin IS ARTHAS. When he nonsensically accuses the Primus of having “once…bound [him] with Domination” that’s Arthas talking. He blames the Primus for forging Frostmourne.

Anduin didn’t chose to be evil though, Arthas did, and honestly the more I think about it the fewer similarities I see other than “Blond guy now white haired bad guy”
lol no

That’s the jailer speaking through Anduin. Jailer was bound with domination by the four

The Jailer is standing right there, though. Why wouldn’t he just say it himself?
This writing team is creatively bankrupt. Arthas redemption arc incoming.

Shouldn’t she have realized that on her own the second she started working for the guy? I mean, if she’s a 4D chess intellect…

Don’t worry, they will use arthas lightly when Uther will use Arthas soul to save Anduin or something like that
If it were up to me. I’d have Arthas show up as a child the first time we’re in the Maw. Without saying anything he’d motion for us to follow and that’s how we find our way out to safety. ( Came up with this before we got the version Blizz gave us with the way stone )
It helps show just how evil The Jailer is if he has no trouble tormenting the innocent child part of our souls. Sylvanas saw Arthas as nothing but a scared child when she first got into The Maw after she yeeted herself off Icecrown.
And then we’d never see that child again. Arthas would just do this one small act of kindness that would eventually lead to us defeating The Jailer.

That’s the absolute most ridiculous part, friendo. She already knows.
congrats you just supported them even more than someone who just paid for it normally. buying wow tokens means more ppl buy then from the shop to keep supply up. so every 3 tokens is the same as 4 wow subs

How did Arthas choose to be evil? Everything he was up to the point he took up Frostmourne was for getting justice for his people. Did he do some nasty stuff to achieve that, yeah, and no one will deny that. But if we go by that logic most of the Warcraft characters are also evil. After he took up Frostmourne his soul was stolen by the blade and he was controlled by Ner Zhul or the Jailor (take your pick at this point).

In b4 it was Arthas’ soul that was forged into Anduin’s Kingsmourne.
It’s a shame. I’ve read fanfictions on Archive of Our Own that are fantastically written and they’re written by people that know the lore and are actually passionate about the World of Warcraft.
I love all the people that claim to be playing only with gold as a way of sticking it to Blizzard lol
They make an extra $5 off of you that way, so I’m sure they appreciate your rebellion.
Everything up to Stratholme, maybe. His decision there can be argued back and forth, but it definitely broke him as a person. Everything he did after that was laser-focused on revenge, to the detriment of anyone who got in his way.

Ready for the twist…
Anduin chose to pick up Kingsmourne…
Wouldn’t that be a riot?
They used a blue gem to represent Sylvanas’s soul, the piece that was missing. The same exact type of gem was used to make anduins mournblade. Who’s soul this is, my guess is Arthas. We haven’t encountered him yet so I’m thinking the Jailor has either fully trapped in that gem or just half of him, the bad or corrupted half.
Imagine if slyvanas actually had to help Arthas lol. That would be awesome.
