I’m paraphrasing but i believe thats the gist of Ions words.
I am wearing a 365 and a 380 ring. I just got a whopping 420 from my m+10 chest. And the ring sims LOWER. Now, i understand why it sims lower (no crit) but this is ridiculous. 55 ilvls over my 365 and it’s worse?! At some point a piece of gear should just outweigh things. My hands are just flailin cus idk what to do with them. Disbelief.

From story to class design to itemization there isn’t a thing that Activision hasn’t dropped the ball on this expansion.

Well, rings are a different situation because they are pure green stats unless you’re a tank. So it’s pretty straight forward in the sense that if an item doesn’t have your best green stat on it in any amount it’s probably not great for you.
I think this oversimplification is kind of gross though. I mean remember back in WOTLK when you played a physical dps and you had the options to say pursue a crit build or an armor pen build. Or like back in Cata DK’s had mastery vs haste build options. Now things are just a bit too straight forward for my taste.

This was the biggest sign that Blizzard had a completely flawed mindset going into BFA. They wanted to make loot upgrades as simple as possible but instead created the most complicated Loot system in WoW history. We have no idea how our azerite gear procs or even at what rate does it procs. Not to mention how boring most of those procs are to begin with. Then with the weird stat weights, you have no idea if ilvl > Secondary stats for many classes. It’s just a mess.

I just hate all the versatility. Can we just let it go?

Yes, burn all the versitility.

This has been an issue since legion.
The “go sim it” phrase is being more prevalent

Curiosity causes me to ask, but what is the ring in question, what is the stats on the ring, compared to the one that simmed better, and what is the stat weighting on the sim you used?
Specificity would help the developers to understand why the ring you received may not be as valuable, especially if they can adjust the stat in question to give it more value later.
Well as an ele shaman we value crit most above all. For me its followed by Haste verse/intellect.
The ring in question is the Footbomb Championship ring with 240 Haste and 254 Mastery. Mastery is valued at like half of my other stats. the 365s has 125 crit and 272 Haste and a socket. Like i said i know why but i feel it should eventually at least be dps neutral at some item level point just so i can claim the stamina buff.

That’s because mastery is terrible for you, to the point where you never want to take it, (your neck will cover the tiny bit you “need”)
Sweet, that is what I already do. Once again, I’m ahead of the curve!
395 is better than 385, or 390. MATH!
“Sim”? HAH! Ain’t nobody got time for that!
Due to the changes made in 8.1, a lot of my characters are back to having secondaries stats of more importance than the primary.

“We want you to just be able to equip an item so we’re removing Reforging”. - Blizzard
“We’re also creating a system where you have to have a spreadsheet bookmarked just to work out whether this Azerite piece is actually an upgrade even though it’s 50ilvls high” - Also Blizzard.

There is an add on called Pawn that can do this for you. You can even import your own stat strings from sims. Then it shows you if the item is an upgrade or not with a handy green arrow.
It’s not foolproof but it’s generally pretty dang close. Though I have no idea why I sim anyway because I just like putzing around the world and doing old raids since there’s nothing else for me to do.

It gives you a good feeling when you know somethings a big upgrade. I don’t use pawn but i do know of it. I don’t mind simming, i like minmaxing tbh. It’s just cmon! 55 lvls?!
I’m going to need someone to sit me down and explain to me, like I am 5, how on earth we have a system in place where Haste/Crit is stronger than straight strength/intellect

Sockets are a big deal on rings, it’s worth like 20 ilvl
